HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2014-041 - Small Craft Boat Launch • • RESOLUTION NO. 2014-041 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING REQUESTING FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE CONSERVATION BOARD AND CALIFORNIA STATE PARKS DIVISION OF BOATING AND WATERWAYS FOR THE AMENITIES OF A SMALL CRAFT BOAT LAUNCHING FACILITY, TRAILS AND RESTORATION ON THE SACRAMENTO RIVER AT HENDERSON OPEN SPACE WHEREAS, the City of Redding is desirous of improving fishing, small craft boating access and environmental restoration at the Henderson Open Space to meet the needs of fishers and small craft recreational boaters on the Sacramento River; and WHEREAS, the project site is owned by the City of Redding; and WHEREAS, the California Wildlife Conservation Board and California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways are authorized to provide funds for fishing, environmental restoration and small craft access improvements; and WHEREAS, the improvement of the fishing and boating access to the Sacramento River will not be detrimental to the operations of private fishing and boating businesses in the area; and WHEREAS, the City of Redding has provided a forum for comments, and it has been determined the proposed improvements are needed to provide the public with adequate boating and fishing access to this area of the Sacramento River; and WHEREAS, the Henderson Open Space has been designated as a recipient by several private donors; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED The City Council of the City of Redding hereby requests that the above state agencies provide the sum of up to $925,000 for the purpose of improving public access, environmental restoration and education to this area of the Sacramento River, known as the Henderson Open Space, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED The City of Redding agrees to accept the collective sum of up to $925,000 and hereby appoints the City Manager as agent of the City to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including, but not limited to, applications, agreements, amendments, billing _ statements, and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project. 1 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the Redding City Council on the 15th day of April, 2014, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBER: Cadd,Jones,McArthur, Sullivan, & Bosetti NOES: COUNCIL MEMBER: None ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBER: None ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBER: None RICK BOSETTL Mayor `ATTEST: " ' , .
