RESOLUTION NO. 2013-016
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDDING APPROVING THE EXPANSION
OF THE SHASTA METRO ENTERPRISE ZONE
BOUNDARIES
WHEREAS, on August 1, 2006, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2006-144
endorsing the joint application ofthe Cities of Anderson, Redding and Shasta Lake and the County.
of Shasta for the designation of an Enterprise Zone in Shasta County, and on November 6, 2006,
final designation of the Shasta Metro Enterprise Zone was awarded by the Department of Housing
and Community Development; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redding wishes to expand the boundaries of the Shasta Metro
Enterprise Zone to include the geographic area set forth in the attached boundary maps (Exhibits
A through 0); and
WHEREAS, the Enterprise Zone program regulations allow enterprise zones to expand by
up to 15 percent during the life of the zone; and
WHEREAS, the Enterprise Zone program regulations require adoption of a resolution by
each jurisdiction agreeing to expand the Enterprise Zone to include the expansion areas; and
WHEREAS, land included with the proposed expansion area is zoned for industrial or
commercial use; and
WHEREAS, basic infrastructure is available to the area that would be included in the
proposed expansion area; and
WHEREAS, on March 21, 2012, the Enterprise Zone Policy Board reviewed and approved
a request to include areas zoned commercial or industrial and that have basic infrastructure available,
comprised of 2,157 acres within the jurisdiction of the County of Shasta and 99.28 acres within the
jurisdiction of the City of Redding, to be submitted to the California Department of Housing and
Community Development as an expansion application; and
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Corporation of Shasta County, as administrator
for the Enterprise Zone, will submit a written request as required to the California Department of
Housing and Community Development to have its enterprise zone boundaries expanded.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Redding does hereby support
and approve expansion of the geographical boundaries of the Shasta Metro Enterprise Zone as set
forth in the attached maps (Exhibits A through 0);
