RESOLUTION NO. 2011- 184
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
COMMENDING PETER T. HANSEN FOR 28 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING
DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF REDDING
WHEREAS, Peter T. Hansen is a 28-year veteran of the Redding Police Department beginning on
November 2, 1983; and during his tenure, he was promoted through the ranks as Patrol Officer, Investigator, Patrol
Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Division Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, Police Captain, and achieved the title
of Chief of Police in 2008; and
WHEREAS, prior to joining the Redding Police Department, Peter T. Hansen served as a Deputy Sheriff
in Riverside County and as a Park Ranger with the State of California; and
WHEREAS, Peter T. Hansen earned a Bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University; has
undergone extensive training through the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST);
graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; graduated from the
Law Enforcement Command College, and is the recipient of the California Peace Officer's Association Lifetime
Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Chief of Police, Chief Hansen' s proactive position on policing and public
safety is evidenced by the many programs he has instituted or participated in, such as:
. Office of Traffic Safety Grant -DUI Enforcement Program
. Shasta Anti-Gang Enforcement Unit (SAGE) and North State Anti-Gang Enforcement (NSAGE)
Programs
. Red Light Photo Enforcement Program
. Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Rehiring Grant
. Financial Crimes Investigation Programs
. POST Advisory Committee Member
. California Police Chief s Association Region Chair
WHEREAS, in addition to his busy schedule as Chief of Police, Chief Hansen has also demonstrated
outstanding community leadership in the following areas:

WHEREAS, in performance of his duties and responsibilities, Chief Hansen has always served the City of
Redding with pride, professionalism and distinction while providing a high level of public safety for the community
and its citizens; and in recognition of his exemplary leadership skills;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby expresses
its deep appreciation to Police Chief Peter T. Hansen for his dedication, enthusiasm, and the countless and long-
lasting contributions he has made to Shasta County, the City of Redding, and its citizens, and wishes him future
success and happiness as he retires from public service.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of Redding on the 1 st day of November, 2011, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the
