RESOLUTION NO. 2011 - 57
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION
FOR ENTITLEMENT AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AlP)
GRANT MONIES TO ACCOMPLISH CAPITAL PROJECTS AT BENTON
AIRPARK AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS
DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE APPLICATION AND ALL SUBSEQUENT
DOCUMENTATION TO OBTAIN FAA GRANT MONIES AND MATCHING
FUNDS
WHEREAS, the FAA District Office has recommended that applications for unencumbered
Airport Improvement Program (AlP) Entitlement Grant Funds be submitted; and
WHEREAS, there is a significant need to construct runway safety area improvements and
a perimeter road, install new runway edge lighting and navigational aids and rehabilitate the runway;
and
WHEREAS, the total cost of said project is estimated at $3,678,000 of which 95 percent is
eligible for the aforementioned AlP entitlement and discretionary funds, and approximately 2.5
percent of the total FAA grant is eligible for funding through a State of California Division of
Aeronautics matching grant; and
WHEREAS, the Airports Manager has recommended that the City apply for U.S.
Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, AlP Grant in the amount of
$3,494,100 to accomplish the project outlined in Exhibit A, a true copy of which is attached hereto
and incorporated herein, and to obtain matching State of California Grant Funds in the estimated
amount of$87,352; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that Federal AlP and State
grants be acquired; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that for the project outlined in Exhibit A, the
City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes:

1. The filing of an application for an FAA Airport Improvement Program Entitlement
Grant in the amount of$3,494, 1 00 and State of California Division of Aeronautics matching grants;
2. The City Manager, or his designee, on behalf of the City of Redding, to execute the
FAA and State Application forms, including the Acceptance of the Grant Offers, to obtain the
necessary FAA funding and State funding to complete the project identified in Exhibit A; and
3. The City Clerk to attest the sign~ture of the City Manager, or his designee, and to
impress the official seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council on the 7th day of June, 2011, by the following vote:
