HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2011-021 - Bike Lane Projects e RESOLUTION NO. 2011 _ 21 e A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE STATE BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT FOR THE BIKE LANE PROJECTS ON QUARTZ HILL ROAD FROM SNOW LANE TO TERRA NOVA DRIVE AND OLD AL TURAS ROAD FROM EDGEWOOD DRIVE TO SHASTA VIEW DRIVE WHEREAS, the Streets and Highways Code, Bicycle Transportation Account provides funds for grants to local agencies for projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters; and WHEREAS, the State of California, Bicycle Facilities Unit, has the responsibility for the administration of the program within the state, setting up necessary procedures governing project application under the program; and WHEREAS, the City proposes to complete three important segments of the bikeway system as included in the City of Redding Bikeway Action Plan adopted in 2010; and WHEREAS, the City of Redding, if selected, will enter into an agreement with the State of California to complete the project; and WHEREAS, based on revenue projections in fiscal year 2010-11 the Traffic Impact Fee (TIF) Fund will have sufficient funds for the maximum potential of $77,000 in matching funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding: 1. Approves the filing of an application for the State Bicycle Transportation Account; and 2. Appoints the Director of Public Works as agent of the City of Redding to conduct all negotiations and execute and submit all documents, including, but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests, which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project; and \ 3. Approves the use of the maximum potential of $77,000 from the TIF fund for the grant matching requirement.
