RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - 193
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING AUTHORIZING REDDING ELECTRIC UTILITY'S
PARTICIPATION IN A STATEWIDE GRANT APPLICATION IN
SUPPORT OF THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Redding through Redding Electric Utility (REV) provides low-cost,
reliable electric service to all of its customers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redding will continue its efforts to maximize the community's energy
efficiency through cost-effective retrofit and new construction measures; and
WHEREAS, REV will continue its efforts to maximize the utility's operating efficiency through
cost-effective peak load, demand reduction technologies, and measures; and
WHEREAS, the California Energy Commission is soliciting applications for American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant funding for commercial and municipal building efficiency
improvements; and
WHEREAS, REV has been presented with an opportunity to participate in a statewide
collaboration with the Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA) to apply for such grant
funding to support Redding's existing peak load reduction, thermal energy storage program;
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding that the City
Council authorizes REV to collaborate with SCPP A and participate in the grant application with the
California Energy Commission to potentially enhance the City's existing thermal energy storage
program for the benefit of all of its customers.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at a
regular meeting ofthe Redding City Council on the 17th day of November, 2009, by the following vote:
