ORDINANCE NO. 2435
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDDING AMENDING
TITLE 14 (UTILITIES), CHAPTER 14.08 (WATER) BY
AMENDING SECTION 14.08.310 AND 14.08.315 AND
CHAPTER 14.16 (SEWER) BY AMENDING SECTIONS
14.16.200 AND 14.16.240 ALL RELATING TO CHANGES TO
WATER AND WASTEWATER RATES
WHEREAS, in order to streamline the implementation of wastewater and solid waste utility
rate adjustments and to promote better disclosure, it is desirable to amend the Municipal Code to
remove reference to utility rate schedules and to adopt those rate schedules by resolution such that
those rate schedules can be separately published and posted in places more convenient forratepayers
to access.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF
REDDING AS FOllOWS:
Section 1. Title 14 (Utilities), Chapter 14.08 (Water) of the Redding Municipal Code is
hereby amended by amending sections 14.08.310 and 14.08.315 to read as follows:
14.08.310
Establishment of connection charges and service rates.

Connection charges, service rates, and other fees schedules in connection with the
water distribution system as set forth in this chapter shall be adopted by a resolution
of the City Council. Connection charges and front footage charges are established by
RMC Section 16.20.080.
14.08.315
Charges and rates.
A service fee and other non-development related fees in connection with the water distribution
system shall be paid to the City in accordance with the rate schedule in effect, as duly adopted by
resolution of the City Council.
Section 2. Title 14 (Utilities), Chapter 14.16 (Sewer) of the Redding Municipal Code is
hereby amended by amending sections 14.16.200 and 14.16.240 to read as follows:

Sewer service fees and other fee schedules related to the POTW, as set forth in this
chapter shall be adopted by a resolution of the City Council.

Sewer service charges.
A.
Each discharger to a public sewer shall pay a monthly sewer service charge that is
equitably based on the number of household equivalents discharged, except that each
discharger shall be assessed a minimum monthly charge in accordance with the rate
schedule in effect, as duly adopted by resolution of the City Council.
Section 3. The passage ofthis ordinance is not a "project" according to the definition in
the California Environmental Quality Act, and therefore is not subject to the provisions requiring
environmental review.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect 30 days after the date of its adoption, and the
City Clerk shall certiJY to the adoption thereof and cause its publication according to law.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was introduced and read by the City
Council at a regular meeting on the 19th day of May, 2009; and was duly read and adopted at a
regular meeting on the 2nd day of June, 2009, by the following vote:
