RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - 27
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
DESIGNATING LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY PARKING PURSUANT TO
REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 11.24.320 AND REMOVING
METERED PARKING PURSUANT TO REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE
SECTION 11.28.020
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code S 22507 provides that a local government may, by ordinance
or resolution, restrict the stopping, parking or standing of vehicles on certain streets or highways, or
portions thereof, during all or certain hours of the day.
WHEREAS, Redding Municipal Code S 11.24.320 provides that City Council may, by resolution,
reserve designated areas for parking by law enforcement and fire vehicles.
WHEREAS, the areas to be designated by this resolution for parking by law enforcement and fire
vehicles are currently designated as metered parking.
WHEREAS, Redding Municipal Code S 11.28.020 provides that areas may be designated as
metered parking on the traffic control map, and Redding Municipal Code S 11.04.020 provides that
modifications to the traffic control map are accomplished by resolution.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the areas designated herein are unsuitable for public parking
and that said areas shall be designated for the parking of law enforcement and fire vehicles.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THAT:
1. The recitals set forth herein are true and correct.
2. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code S 11.24.320, the City Council declares it unlawful for
the operator of a vehicle, other than a vehicle designated for law enforcement and fire
suppression activities, to stop or park for any period of time whatsoever on the public street
and public right-of-way at the following locations:
A. Shasta Street: From a point that is seventeen feet (17') from the face of curb easterly
of the intersection of Shasta Street with east curb line of California Street to a point
that is one hundred feet (100') from the face of curb easterly of the intersection of
Shasta Street with the east curb line of California Street on the south curb of Shasta
Street.
3.
Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code S 11.28.020, the aforementioned area shall no longer
be used as metered parking.

The City Engineer is hereby tasked with making modifications to the traffic control map
consistent with this resolution, and is further tasked with providing notice of the designations
made herein by means of signage and curb painting, as appropriate.

5. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution of intention was introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting ofthe City Council on the 71h day of April, 2009, by the following vote:
