RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - 21 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING PROHIBITING PARKING ON CERTAIN DESIGNATED AREAS PURSUANT TO REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 11.24.040 WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code S 22507 provides that a local government may, by ordinance or resolution, restrict the stopping, parking, or standing of vehicles on certain streets or highways, or portions thereof, during all or certain hours of the day; and WHEREAS, Redding Municipal Code S 11.24.040 provides that it is unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop or park for any period of time at any place where the City Council, by resolution, prohibits said action by making a finding that the area so restricted is unsuitable, dangerous, or inconvenient for parking; and WHEREAS, Redding Municipal Code S 11.24.220 provides that it is unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop or park for any period longer than twelve (12) minutes between the hours of9 a.m. and 6 p.m. in areas so restricted by the Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the areas designated herein are unsuitable and/or dangerous for parking; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THAT: 1. The recitals set forth herein are true and correct. 2. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code S 11.24.040, the City Council declares it unlawful for the operator ofa vehicle to stop or park for any period of time whatever on the public street and public right-of-way at the following locations: A. California Street: From a point that is thirteen and one-half feet (I3.5') southerly from the intersection of California Street with the south curb line of Placer Street to a point that is twenty-two feet (22') southerly from the intersection of California Street with the south curb line of Placer Street on the east curb of California Street. 8. Placer Street: From a point that is thirteen feet (13') easterly from the intersection of Placer Street with the east curb line of California Street to a point that is eighteen feet (18') easterly from the intersection of Placer Street with the east curb line of California Street on the south curb of Placer Street. 3. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code S 11.24.220, the City Council declares it unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop or park for any period longer than twelve (12) minutes between the hours of9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the public street and public right-of-way at the following locations: ~ ;a I ~ . . A. California Street: From a point that is twenty-two feet (22') southerly from the intersection of California Street with the south curb line of Placer Street to a point that is forty-two feet (42') southerly from the intersection of California Street with the south curb line of Placer Street on the east curb of California Street. B. Placer Street: From a point that is eighteen feet (18') easterly from the intersection of Placer Street with the east curb line of California Street to a point that is thirty-six feet (36') easterly from the intersection of Placer Street with the east curb line of California Street on the south curb of Placer Street. 3. The City Engineer is hereby tasked with keeping a record of the no-parking areas set forth herein and with marking the curbs in such areas to provide notice of prohibition against parking in the designated areas. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council.
