RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - 15
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
PROHIBITING PARKING ON CERTAIN DESIGNATED AREAS
PURSUANT TO REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 11.24.040
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code 9 22507 provides that a local government may, by ordinance
or resolution, restrict the stopping, parking or standing of vehicles on certain streets or highways, or
portions thereof, during all or certain hours ofthe day.
WHEREAS, Redding Municipal Code 9 11.24.040 provides that it is unlawful for the operator of
a vehicle to stop or park for any period of time at any place which the City Council, by resolution,
prohibits said action by making a finding that the area so restricted is unsuitable, dangerous or
inconvenient for parking.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the areas designated herein are unsuitable and dangerous
for parking.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THAT:
I. The recitals set forth herein are true and correct.
2. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code 9 11.24.040, the City Council declares it unlawful for
the operator of a vehicle to stop or park for any period of time whatever on the public street
and public right-of-way at the following locations:
A. Court Street: From a point that is seventy-two feet (72') northeasterly from the
intersection of Court Street with Butte Street to a point that is ninety-six feet (96')
northeasterly from the intersection of Court Street with Butte Street on the easterly
side of Court Street.
B. Court Street: From a point that is eighty-seven feet (87') southwesterly from the
intersection of Court Street with Butte Street to a point that is one hundred and
eleven feet (III') southwesterly from the intersection of Court Street with Butte
Street on the westerly side of Court Street.
3. The City Engineer is hereby tasked with keeping a record ofthe no-parking areas set forth
herein and with marking the curbs in such areas to provide notice of prohibition against
parking in the designated areas.
4.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council.
