HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2009-008 - Airport Improvement Program .? ~ . . /) l~_ RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - 08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR ENTITLEMENT AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AlP) GRANT MONIES TO ACCOMPLISH CAPITAL PROJECTS AT BENTON AIRPARK AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE APPLICATIONS AND ALL SUBSEQUENT DOCUMENTATION TO OBTAIN FAA GRANT MONIES AND MATCHING FUNDS. WHEREAS, the FAA District Office has recommended that applications for unencumbered Airport Improvement Program (AlP) Entitlement Grant Funds be submitted as soon as possible; and WHEREAS, there is a significant need to design and construct runway safety area improvements and create a pavement maintenance management program; and WHEREAS, the total cost of said projects is estimated at $2,093,625, of which 95 percent is eligible for the aforementioned AlP entitlement and discretionary funds and approximately 2.5 percent of the total FAA grant is eligible for funding through a State of California grant; and WHEREAS, the Airports Manager has recommended that the City apply for U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration AlP Grants in the amount of $1,988,944 to accomplish the projects outlined in Exhibit A, a true copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein and to obtain matching State of California Grant Funds in the amount of $49,723; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that Federal AlP and State Grants be acquired; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that for the projects outlined in Exhibit A, the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes: 1. The filing of applications for FAA Airport Improvement Program Entitlement Grants in the amount of$I,988,944 and State of California Division of Aeronautics matching grants. 2. The City Manager, or his designee, on behalf of the City of Redding, to execute the FAA and State Application forms, including the Acceptance of the Grant Offers, to obtain the necessary FAA funding and State funding to complete the projects identified in Exhibit A. 3. The City Clerk to attest the signature of the City Manager, or his designee, and to ~ impress the official seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
