HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2009-005 - Prohibit Parking . . ., RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - OS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING PROHIBITING PARKING ON CERTAIN DESIGNATED AREAS PURSUANT TO REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 11.24.040 WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code li 22507 provides that a local government may, by ordinance or resolution, restrict the stopping, parking or standing of vehicles on certain streets or highways, or portions thereof, during all or certain hours of the day. WHEREAS, Redding Municipal Code li 11.24.040 provides that it is unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop or park for any period of time at any place which the City Council, by resolution, prohibits said action by making a finding that the area so restricted is unsuitable, dangerous or inconvenient for parking. WHEREAS, pursuantto Redding Municipal Code li 11.04.020, the traffic control map is maintained by the City of Redding and said map establishes a comprehensive record of all information regulating motor vehicle traffic, including parking regulation, within the City of Redding. WHEREAS, the City Council may amend the traffic control map by resolution to further regulate and control traffic. WHEREAS, the City Council further finds that parking in the below-cited locations is unsuitable and inconvenient to the public at large and could pose a danger to pedestrians in the area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THAT: I. The recitals set forth herein are true and correct. 2. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code li 11.24.040, the City Council declares it unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop or park for any period of time whatever on the public street and public right-of-way at the following locations: A. Court Street: From the intersection of Butte Street with Court Street to a point that is one hundred and twenty-seven feet (127') south of said intersection on the east side of Court Street. B. Court Street: From the intersection of Yuba Street with Court Street to a point that is one hundred and thirty feet (130') south of said intersection on the east side of Court Street. C. Court Street: From the intersection of Yuba Street with Court Street to a point that is one hundred and ten feet (110') north of said intersection on the west side of Court Street. ~ ,.Q ~ . . 3. The traffic control map on file with the City Clerk shall be modified to account for the amendments to the traffic control map made herein and signage shall be placed to give notice of said parking restrictions. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council.
