HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2008-169 - Leonard F. Moty \ . . RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 169 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING LEONARD F. MOTY FOR 31 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF REDDING WHEREAS, Leonard F. Moty began his career in law enforcement September 12, 1977, as a City of Redding Police Officer; and WHEREAS, during Leonard F. Moty's 3 I-year service with the Redding Police Department, he was promoted through the ranks of Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, and achieved the title of Chief of Police in 2002; and WHEREAS, during his six-year tenure as Chief of Police , ChiefMoty's proactive position on policing and public safety is evidenced by the many programs he has instituted or participated in, such as: . Traffic Collision Reduction Program . Shasta Anti-Gang Enforcement (SAGE) Unit and North State Anti-Gang Enforcement (NSAGE) . Red Light Photo Enforcement Program . Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Methamphetamine Initiative . Enforcement of Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Operations . Avoid the Five DUI Task Force WHEREAS, in addition to his busy schedule as Chief of Police, Chief Moty has also demonstrated outstanding community leadership in the following areas: . Mercy Foundation North Board of Trustees; Vice Chair . Rotary Club of Redding; past Board Member . Centerville Community Services District; Board Member . Shasta YMCA; past Vice President . Leadership Redding Steering Committee; past Chair . Mercy Medical Center Advisory Council; past Chair . Shasta High School Football Game Announcer . Elected to the Shasta County Board of Supervisors in June 2008; and WHEREAS, in performance of his duties and responsibilities, Chief Moty has always served the City of Redding with pride, professionalism and distinction while providing a high level of public safety for the community and its citizens; and in recognition of his exemplary leadership skills, City Manager Starman appointed him as Interim Assistant City Manager from September 2007 to February 2008. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby expresses its deep appreciation to Police Chief Leonard F. Moty for his dedication, enthusiasm, and the countless and long- ~ lasting contributions he has made to Shasta County, the City of Redding and its citizens and extends best wishes to him as he assumes his new role as Shasta County Supervisor. . ~ ~ ~ ...() f) , . .
