A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE cITY OF REDDING
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION
TO THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION UNDER THE SMALL
COMMUNITY AIR SI?,RVICE DEVELOPMENT PILOT PROGRAM FOR
THE REDDING MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPLICATION AND ALL
SUBSEQUENT DOCUMENTATION TO OBTAIN GRANT MONIES.
WHEREAS, the City of Redding recognizes that commercial air service is critically
important to the economic health and vitality of its City and other cities served by the Redding
Municipal Airport; and
WHEREAS, the City of l~edding has a goal of attracting new nonstop passenger air service
to the top travel destination of Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, the City of l~edding believes that air service between Los Angeles and
Redding will boost commerce, encourage more patrons of the Redding Municipal Airport and
save travel time; and
WHEREAS, the Airports Manager has recommended that the City. apply for a U.S.
Departmem of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Small Community Air Service
Development Pilot Program Grant in the amount of $500,000.00 to aid in the expense of
providing air service between l~edding and Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that a Small Community Air
Service Development Pilot Program Grant be acquired; .and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City'Council of the City of l~edding
hereby authorizes:
1. The filing of an appllication for a Small Community Air Service Development Pilot
Program Grant in the amount, of $500,000.00 to be submitted to the U.S. Department of
Transportation no later than June 30, 2003.
2. The City Manager, o:n behalf of the City of Redding, to execute the application form,
including the Acceptance of the Grant/Offer, to obtain the funding to achieve this goal.
3. The City Clerk to attest the signature of the City Manager and to impress the official
seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council on the 17th day of June 2003, by the following vote:
