A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE
CITY OF REDDING SUPPORTING TIlE CONCEPT AND EFFORTS OF TIlE
CALIFORNIA IlIGIlWAY PATROL NEEDED TO CONDUCT A DRIVING UNDER
INFLUENCE (DUI) TRAFFIC SAFETY PROJECT
WIIEREAS, DUI drivers are a significant traffic safety problem; and
WIIEREAS, the California Highway Patrol has received grant funds from the California Office
of Traffic Safety to act as lead agency for a multi-agency DUI enforcement project entitled Removing
Impaired Drivers Project AL0307; and
WHEREAS, the participating law enforcement agencies are the California Highway Patrol and
the City of Redding Police Department; and :'
WIIEREAS, the City Council &the City of Redding has agreed that increasing tr~fic law
enforcement is an important element in improving public safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding
expresses its strong support for the project and authorizes execution of an agreement with tine California
Highway Patrol as provided in the Office of Traffic Safety grant agreement.
I IlEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council on the ! 7 thday of June ,2003, by the following vote:
