HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2003-080 - Household Hazardous WasteRESOLUTION NO. 2003- A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A 12TM CYCLE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE GRANT TO THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR FY 2003/04 WHEREAS, the people of the State of Califomia have enacted Assembly Bill 1220 (Eastin, Statutes of 1993, Chapter 656) that provides grants to local governments to establish and implement waste diversion and separation programs to prevent disposal of hazardous waste:, including household hazardous waste, in solid waste landfills; and WHEREAS, the City oflRedding funds and operates a Permanent Household Hazardous Waste Facility thereby providing safe disposal of household hazardous waste materials for all residents of the City of Redding, the City of Anderson, the City of Shasta Lake and the unincorporated County; and WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has been delegated the responsibility for administering the Local Government Household Hazardous Waste Grant which includes procedures governing the application by and payment to eligible cities and counties; and WHEREAS, if awarded a grant, the applicant will enter into a Grant Agreement with the California Integrated Waste Management Board for implementation of said grant; NOW, THEREFORE, liE IT RESOLVED that the City of Redding City Council authorizes the submittal of a grant application to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for a Local Government Household Hazardous Waste Grant - Fiscal Year 2003/2004. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Assistant City Manager, or his/her designee, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Redding all grant documents necessary to secure grant funds and implement the approved grant project.
