RESOLUTION NO. 2003- ~aa
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES
WHEREAS, Americans have always responded when the need arises to preserve the peace and
protect our Nation's freedom and security, as well as the freedom and security of nations around the world
when a clear and present danger is demonstrated; and
WHEREAS, the Redding City Council expresses support for the brave men and women serving in
the United States Armed Forces including recently deployed City of Redding employees, Marine Captain
Ronald Icely Jr. (Police Department), Marine Sergeant Josh Vandiver (Municipal Utilities Department), and
National Guard Alpha Company Sergeant Walter Work Jr. (Parks Division) of the 132nd Engineer Battalion;
and
WHEREAS, the Redding City Council honors the dedication and commitment of the men and women
of the Armed Forces for their selflessness in defending, securing and preserving our Nation's safety and
freedom, and mourns the loss of those who make the supreme sacrifice in forfeit of their lives.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby
salutes the men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States and expresses its wish for a swit~ and
just resolution to the current conflict which will bring our troops safely home.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 1 st day of April, 2003, and was duly adopted at said meeting
by the following vote:
