HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2002-159 - Downtown ReddingRESOLUTION NO. 2002- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING DESIGNATING DOWNTOWN REDDING AS THE CITY'S CIVIC AREA AND MAKING A REQUEST TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SIGNS GUIDING TRAFFIC FROM I-5 TO WESTBOUND SR-44 TOWARDS M/d~KET STREET. WHEREAS, the Califomia Department of Transportation has a policy allowing incorporated citics to install signs on specific State highways guiding motorists to the city's civic area, otherwise commonly referred to as downtown, central business district, city center, or city hall; WHEREAS, the City of Redding desires that "Downtown Redding" be designated as the City's Civic Area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby designates "Downtown Redding" as the City's Civic Area, and requests of the State Department of Transportation the installation of signs referring to the City's Civic Area as "Downtown Redding" guiding motorists traveling on Interstate 5 onto westbound SR-44 towards Market Street as shown on the attacht~d map.
