RESOLUTION NO. 2007 - 130
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
SUPPORTING CRIME AND DRUG PREVENTION EFFORTS IN REDDING,
AND PROCLAIMING TUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2007, AS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT.
WHEREAS, The National Association of Town Watch is sponsoring a unique
nationwide crime and drug prevention program on August 7, 2007, called National Night
Out; and
WHEREAS, this 24th National Night Out provIdes an opportunity for the City of
Redding to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in
promoting cooperative police/community crime and drug abuse prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Redding Police Department plays a vital role in crime and drug
abuse prevention activities in Redding; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that all citizens be aware of the importance of crime
prevention and drug abuse prevention programs, and their impact on reduction of crime
and use of drugs in Redding, and
WHEREAS" police/community partnerships and neighborhood safety and
awareness are important themes of the National Night Out program;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council calls
upon all citizens of Redding to join the Redding Police Department and the National
Association of Town Watch in supporting the 24th Annual National Night Out on August
7,2007
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Tuesday, August 7, 2007, is hereby
proclaimed as NATIONAL NIGHT OUT in Redding.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 3rd day of July, 2007, by the
