HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2382 - Amend Title 6 e e " ORDINANCE NO. 2382 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDDING AMENDING TITLE 6 (BUSINESS TAXES, LICENSES AND REGULATIONS), CHAPTER 6.14 (CARD ROOMS), OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 6.14.028 (WAGERING LIMITS) WHEREAS, the City of Redding regulates card rooms pursuant to and consistent with the Gambling Control Act; and WHEREAS, the recent amendments to the Gambling Control Act require the City to exercise discretionary regulatory control over the wagering limits of the games played in card rooms; and WHEREAS, the only legally permissible card room business in the City of Redding is the Casino Club, located at 1885 Hilltop Drive, Redding, California; and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City Council to amend its local regulation governing approval of wagering limits to satisfy state law and Department of Justice licensing requirements relating to proper exercise of local control over this issue. WHEREAS, the State Division of Gambling Control has reviewed the proposed amendment to the Redding Municipal Code and determined that this change would bring the Code into compliance with the Gambling Control Act. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Title 6, Chapter 6.142, Section 6.14.028 (Wagering Limits), is hereby amended to read as follows: 6.14.028 Wagering Limits. Rules establishing wagering limits in permitted games or allowing for no limits shall be established by the City Council and formally adopted by a resolution ofthe City Council. Thereafter, such rules as adopted by the City shall be clearly posted at the gambling tables where the games are offered during hours of operation to provide the patrons adequate notice of those rules. Section 2. The passage ofthis ordinance is not a "project" according to the definition in the California Environmental Quality Act, and therefore is not subject to the provisions requiring environmental review. Section 3.
