RESOLUTION NO. 2006 - 51 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING PROHIBITING PARKING ON A PORTION OF THE SOUTHERLY CURB LINE OF PLACER STREET AND DECLARING THAT PORTION OF STREET TO BE UNSUITABLE FOR PARKING WHEREAS, Redding Municipal Code section 11.24.040 provides that the City Council may by resolution designate no parking zones and prohibit parking after declaring such area to be unsuitable for parking; and WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City Council on January 3, 2006, the Council heard from several employees of the County of Shasta during the public comment portion of the meeting with concerns relative to pedestrian and traffic conflicts at the intersection of Placer Street and West Street: and WHEREAS, at the March 21,2006, regular meeting of the City Council, the Council gave direction to staff to address those concerns by making modifications to striping and signing at the intersection in addition to providing a left turn pocket on Placer Street for vehicles waiting to make left turns onto West Street; and WHEREAS, in order to implement the aforementioned improvements, it is necessary to prohibit parking along the southerly curb line of Placer Street for a distance of 190 feet easterly of West Street. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding that, based on the foregoing facts, the area along the southerly curb line of Placer Street for a distance of 190 feet easterly of West Street is declared to be a zone unsuitable for parking and therefore shall be deemed a no parking zone and signed as such.
