THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING MICHAEL WARREN FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS CITY MANAGER FOR THE CITY OF REDDING WHEREAS, Michael D. Warren was employed by the City of Redding from January 4,1995, to April?, 2006, providing more than 11 years of distinguished service as Redding's City Manager; and WHEREAS, Michael Warren has provided consistent and dedicated leadership to the City, and oversight to many of the City's high-profile capital projects and accomplishments such as: . . . . . Ten- Year Financial Plans Redding Civic Center Big League Dreams Sports Complex Soccer Park Turtle Bay Exploration Park & McConnell Arboretum Stillwater Business Park - Environmental Phase Skateboard Park Parkview Neighborhood revitalization Martin Luther King Jr. Neighbmhood revitalization Veterans Home . . . . General Plan Update Water, Sewer & Traffic Master Plans Parks, Trails & Open Space Master Plan Mt. Shasta Mall Expansion Project and Improvements The Sundial Bridge Clover Creek Preserve New Library Aquatic Center Downtown Revitalization Art in Public Places Sculpture Park North Market Street Landscape Project; and . . . . . . . . . . . . . WHEREAS, Michael Warren viewed the Redding community as being deserving of these amenities and endeavored to instill the belief that through hard work, public-private partnerships, dedication, and a focus to the future, these things were not only possible, but would also serve to strengthen community pride; and WHEREAS, Michael Warren worked diligently to accomplish the priorities of the community, promoting quality oflife, the preservation of open space and the natural surroundings while inviting local and national attention to the area through forward-thinking, innovative, and successful projects and programs; and WHEREAS, Michael Warren championed the concept that by building the "right projects" first (those which had a positive economic impact on the community), more projects were possible; and WHEREAS, Michael Warren has served in leadership roles throughout his long municipal career such as past Chair of Solano, Yolo & Napa City Managers' Groups, past Board Member for the Oregon City Managers' Association, past Board of Trustee Member for the Bishop Quinn High School, International City/County Management Association Member, Advisory Council Member for Mercy Medical Center, Board Member for the YMCA, Advisory Board Member for CSU at Chico and Member of Redding Rotary International. ~ ~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding, City staff, and the community pay tribute to Michael D. Warren, a man respected and admired for a wealth of accomplishments and for his commitment and dedication to the betterment of our community, and extend congratulations to him on a well-deserved retirement as well as success in all future endeavors. z.
