RESOLUTION NO. 2005-155
A RESOLUTION OF THE REDDING CITY COUNCIL EXTENDING THE
TIME PERIOD DURING WHICH THE REDDING REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY MAY RETAIN PROPERTIES IDENTIFIED AS ASSESSOR'S
PARCEL NUMBERS 104-350-020, 104-280-016, AND 104-280-014 FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF HOUSING AFFORDABLE TO PERSONS AND
FAMILIES OF LOW AND MODERATE INCOME.
WHEREAS, the Redding Redevelopment Agency, accepted title to properties identified as
Assessor's Parcel Numbers 104-350-020, 104-280-016, and 104-280-014 on March 15, 1999;
November 22, 1999; and March 24,2000, respectively, which were acquired using moneys from the
Low- and Moderate-Income Housing Fund; and
WHEREAS, Section 33334.16 ofthe California Health and Safety Code stipulates that the
Agency shall, within five years from the date it acquires property, initiate activities consistent with
development of the property for housing affordable to persons and families of low and moderate
income; and
WHEREAS, to date, the Agency has not initiated development of the properties for that
purpose; and
WHEREAS, Section 33334.16 of the California Health and Safety Code provides that if
development has not been initiated within this period, the legislative body may extend the time
during which the Agency may retain the property for one additional period not to exceed five years;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council, as the legislative body for the City of Redding, wishes to
extend the period for the Agency to retain the properties as permitted by Section 33334.16 of the
California Health and Safety Code.
NOW, THEREFORE BlE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redding, as
follows:
1. The properties identified as Assessor's Parcel Numbers 104-350-020, 104-280-016,
and 104-280-014 shall be extended to March 15,2009; November 22,2009; and March 24,2010,
respectively, for the development of affordable housing units for persons and families of low and
moderate income.
2. In the event that physical development of the properties for this purpose has not begun
by the end of the extended periods, or if the Agency does not comply with this requirement, the
properties shall be sold and the proceeds from the sale shall be deposited in the Low- and Moderate-
Income Housing Fund. ~

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and read at a Regular
Meeting of the Redding City Council on the 6th day of December, 2005, and was duly adopted at said
meeting by the following vote:
