Background/Analysis
Shasta College is a key educational and economic institution serving the North State region.
Shasta College recently commissioned an economic impact study to quantify its contributions to
the regional economy. Preliminary findings estimate that Shasta College contributes more than
$200 million to the regional economy, supports more than 1,700 jobs, generates nearly $100
million in wages, and contributes more than $40 million in tax revenue.
Shasta College reached out to the City of Redding (City) requesting a letter of support to be
included as a supplemental highlight in their economic impact report. A letter of support from
the City recognizes Shasta College's significant role in workforce development, business support,
and economic growth in the region and aligns with the City's economic development goals and
Council priorities.

Dear Dr. Nigro,
On behalf of the City of Redding, I am pleased to offer this letter of support for Shasta College
and its contributions to the economic vitality of our region.
Shasta College is one of the most significant economic assets in the North State. The College's
impact extends far beyond the classroom, it drives workforce development, supports local
businesses, and helps keep dollars circulating within our community. The students Shasta
College trains become the workers, entrepreneurs, and business owners who strengthen our local
economy for years to come.
As the City works to attract and retain businesses and support long term economic growth,
having a strong community college that produces a skilled and educated workforce is an.
invaluable advantage. Shasta College is not just an educational institution, it is an economic
engine for the entire North State region.
The City of Redding is proud to support Shasta College and looks forward to our continued
partnership in building a thriving and resilient community.
Sincerely,
Mike Littau
City of Redding
