�I�[E AS,parks and recreation programs are an integral part of communities thraughout
this country, including in the City of Redding; and
W E AS,parks and recreation are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the
c�uality of life in communities, ensuring the health of all citizens, aild contributing to the
econ�mic and envirc�ntnental well-being af a community and region;and
E AS, parks and recreation program� build healthy, active comrnunities that aid in
the preventian of chronic disease,provide therapeutic recreation services for those who are
mentally or physically disabled, and also imprave the mental and emotional health of a11
citizens; an�
�'HE AS,parks and recreation programs increase a community's economic prosperity
thraugh increased praperty valu�s, expansion c�f the lc�cal tax base, increased tourism, the
attraction and retention of businesses, and crime reductit�n; and
� E AS,parks and recreation areas are fundamental to the environmental well-being
of the community; and
� E AS, parks and natur�.l recreation areas improve water qivality, protect
grc�unde�vater, prev�nt flooding, imprs�ve tl�e quality of the a�r residents breathe, provide
vegetative buffers to development, and praduce habitat for wildlife; and
E A�, parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of the
cammunity and provid� a place for children and adults to cdnnect with nature and recreate
outdoors; and
WHE r�S, the U.S. House c�f Representatives has designated July as Parks and
Recreation Month; and
W E �1,5,the City of Reddinb recognizes the benefits derived from parks and recreation
resotrrces;
NOW THE FC) E, BE I'T SfJLi�E1) that the City Council of the City of 12edding
hereby proclaims Juiy 2026 as Parks and Recreation Month in the City af Redding.
