�VHE AS,in accordance with Redding Municipal Cade Sectian�:17.010,the City
of Redding's (City) general municipal election shall be consolidated wifh and held on the
same day as the statewide general election; and
E AS, Section 13307 of the State of California Elections �ode (Elections
Code) prc�vides that the governing body of any local agency adopt regulations pertaining to
materi�ls prepared by any candidate far a municipal election, including costs �rf the
candidate's staternent; and
� E AS, tlle City wishes tc� establish standards for candidates to follow for said
election, including, but not limited to, candidate statements, ballot designations, and
deadlines for filing nomination papers;

1. The nominatian periad begins July 13, 2026; and ends August 7, 2026. If an
incumbent eligible for re-el�ctic�n does not file by the close of the nomination period,
the nornin�tion period is extended fc�r non-incumbents only through Wednesday,
August 12, 2426, Pursuant to Elections Code Sections 102�0-10225, nomination
papers sha11 be filed with the City C1�rk during posted regular business haurs no later
than the applicable deadline. In circumstances where the incumbent is nat eligible
for election, the nomination period shall not be extended.
2. Pursuant to Elections Cc�de Section 13307, each candidate for elective office to be
voted for at the election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, may prepare a
candidate statement on an appropriate form provided 1by the City Clerk. The
statement may include the name; age, and occupation c�f the candidate and a brief
description af no mt�re than 200 words of the candidate's education and qualificati�ns
expressed by the candidate himself or herself. It znay not,however, include the parry
affiliation t�f the candidate, nor membership or activity in �artisan pc�litical
organizations: The statement shall be filed, in typewritten and electronic format, in
the affice of the City Cierk at the time the candidate's nc�mination papers are filed,
along with the estirnated fee, The statement may be withdrawn, but not changed,
during the period of filing namination papers and until 5;00 p.m. of the next wc�rking
day after the closing of the nomination periad.
3, The City Clerk shall estimate the total cost of printing, translating (if applicable),
handling and distributing candidate statements. The estimate is not binding, and
actual charges rnay be higher c�r lower depending on the number and length of
statements and the languages requiring translation. The City Clerk shall rec�uire the
candidate(s) to pay the estimated pro rate share as a condition of having tile
candidates' statements included in materials distributed to voters. After actual cc�sts
are determined, the City Clerk shall bi11 or refund candidates on a pro rata basis.
Candidates shall pay any balance due, and overpaymei�ts shall be refunded, within
thil-ty (30)business days c�f in�oice. If a candidate claims indigency, Elections Code
Section 13'309 applies.
4. The City Clerk shall apply the Galifarnia Secretary of State's ballot designation
regulations to all ballot designation reviews fi�r the Cit�'s electian.
S. No candidate will be permitted to include additi�nal materials in the sample ballot
package.
6. Nothing in this Resolution is intended to, nor shall i�be cc�nstrued to,relieve, excuse;
or exernpt any candidate, committee, officer; employee, or other person from
compliance with the Califarnia Electit�ns Code, the Political Reform Act, and all
other applicable federal; state, and local laws, regulations, and requirements. Any
obligations irnposed by this Resolution are in addition to, and not in lieu c�f, any such
legal requirements_
7. The City Clerk sha11 provide each candidate or the candidate's representative a copy
of this Resolution at the tiine nominatin�petitions are issued,
