A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 2146 An CANCELLING
M LEASE MADE PURSUANT THERETO AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF A 99 YEAR LEASE BY THE,UITY OF REDDING
WITH THE STATE.OF CALIFORNIA OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY
UPON WHICH TO CONSTRUCT A NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY AND
AUTHORIZING THE REMAL OF THE PRESENT NATIONAL GUARD
ARMORY LEASE FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE YEARS OR man SAID
NEW ARMORY IS READY FOR OCCUPANCY.
[REAS, State of California, through the office of
the Adjutant General, has requested the City of Redding to
provide a location on City owned property on whi®li State can
construct a National Guard Armory, and :
WHEREAS, the City of Redding has authority under
Section 37392 of the Goverment Code of the State of Caliform
nia:to lease City owned property for a period not to exceed
ninety-nine (99) years for Armory and/or other Military purm
poses,p and
WHEREAS, a thorough study of possible sites has
been made by the Planning Commission and the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the City Council on the 4th day of March,
1957, authorized the execution of a fifty (50) year lease
with said State for said Armory, and
WHEREAS, said fiftyA 50) year lease is not accept-
able to the State of California.
NOH THEREFORED BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF REDDING AS FOLLOWS, TO -WIT:
correct.
1e That the foregoing recitals are true and
2. That it is deemed to be in the best interest
of the City of Redding to provide a suitable location for
the construction of a Nati6na Guard Armory.
30 That the Mayor be and hereby is authorized to
execute a lease agreement on behalf of the City of Redding
with the State of California, Office of the Adjutant Geeneral,
said lease to be for a period of ninety nine (99) years from
date of execution.
4. That the previous action taken under Resolution
No. 2146 be and hereby is rescinded and the lease made pur-
suant thereto is hereby cancelled.
5. That the property subject to said lease shall
be that certain Real Property described as follows, to -wit:
Co mencing at an iron pipe monument marked
R.E.4603 Located on the Westerly boundary of
Oak Street as the same is shown on that certain
map filed in the County Recorder's Office,
County of Shasta, State of California, in
Book 14 of Land Surveys at Page 46, said point
of commencement being located N. 790 46020" E.,
a distance of 398.61 feet from the Southwest
corner of said land Survey; thence -from roan said
point of caT mencement along the Northerly
boundary of the street now known as South
Street N. 790 46020" E., a distance of 363.61
feet to a point on the Westerly boundary of
Pleasant Street; thence along the Southerly
projection of said Westerly boundary S.
170 570 E., 78.02 Feet to the point of beginning;
thence from said point of beginning, continuing
Southerly along the projection of the Westerly
boundary of Pleasant Street, S. 170 570 E., 178.00
feet; thence along a circular cure to the left
which has a radius of 430.00 feet, a central
angle of 130 19' 28", and a length of 100 feet;
thence S. 350 03e W., 275.00 feet; thence N.
720 165 44" W., 340.95 feet; thence N. 00 410

along a circular curve to the right which has a
radius of 20 feet • a central angle of 820 16' 40,
and a length of 26.72 feet to the.point of begin
ning, excepting therefrom a 10.00 foot strip of
land adjacent to the Westerly boundary to be re-
served for utility purposes; said description comm
prising approximately 4.0 acres.
6. That the error be and hereby is authorized to
ekecute a lease agreement on behalf of the City of Redding
with the State. )of :V&l1f.ornl.a, Office of the Adjutant General,
for the present National Guard Armory .facilities, said
lease to be for a period of five (5) years from date of
execution or until said new National Guard Armory is ready
for occupancy, whichever date Is earlier.
