A RESOLUTION DECLARING INTENTION TO VACATE AND CLOSE
UP A PORTION OF THE EXTENSION OF CENTER STREET IN THE
CITY OF REDDING, COUNTY OF SHASTA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, certain real property has been heretofore used
as a public street and travelled way in the City of Redding,
County of Shasta, State of California, and said real property
comprises a portion of the extension of Center Street in said
City as the same is set forth on the map and plan on file in the
office of the City Clerk of the City of Redding, and as the same
Is more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the Nally corner of Block 5, of
the Original Town of Redding, Shasta County,
California; thence, along the Westerly line
of said Block 5, and its Southerly extension,
S. 170 401 E..9 150000 feet; thence, S,. 720
201 W,, 27,00 feet; thence, along a 30 foot
radius curve to the right, through an angle
of 900 001 , a distance of 47.12 feet; thence,
parallel with said Westerly line, No 170 401
Wa, 120000 feet to -a point -on the Southerly
line of Eureka Way; thence, along said South-
erly line, N.'720 201 E.9 57000 feet to the
point of beginning. C ontaining.0,20 acres
more or. less 9, and
WHEREAS, it is believed by and it appears to the City
Council of the City of Redding that said -above-described portion
of the extension of Center Street is not necessary or convenient
for the public use, provided there is reserved and excepted from
the vacation of said street a permanent easement and right in and
over said portion of the extension of Center Street thereby vacated,

The permanent easement and right at any time, or from
time to time, to construct, maintain, operate, replace, remove,
renew and enlarge lines of pipe, conduits, cables, wires, poles
and other convenient structures, equipment and fixtures for the
transportation and d.stribution of electric energy and water, and
incidental purposes including access and the right to keep the
property free from inflammable materials and wood growth, and to
otherwise protect the same from all hazards in, upon and over the
street or part thereof proposed to be vacated, said easement to be

confined to the general location of existing facilities for said�i

ab ovementioned purposes, and
WHEREAS, in consideration of the vacation of said above-
mentioned real property by the City of Redding and the quitclaim
of any interest the City of Redding thereafter has in said street
to C. B. Puryear. Mr. Puryear has offered to quitclaim to the
City of Redding any interest he has in property adjacent to that
property being vaca-(%d in order that suitable access will be avail-
able to the public in lieu thereof, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Puryear has agreed to bear that portion of
the cost of improving the new road being deeded to the City by him
in excess of $750., said improvement to be of a mimimum standard of
411 of base rock and 12" plant mix paving, acceptable to the Direc-
tor of Public Works of said City, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding elects
to proceed in this matter under the provisions of the Street Vaca-
tion Act of 1941, as the same is set forth in Section 8300 at seq.
of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, with
the provision that this Resolution shall be deemed an Ordinance of
Intention.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF REDDING AS FOLLOWS, TO -WIT:
1, That the foregoing recitals are true and correct.
2.. That it is hereby declared to be' the intention of
the City Council of the City of Redding to vacate and close up
the portion of the extension of Center Street herein described
and situate in the City of Redding., County of Shasta, State of
California, subject to a reservation of a permanent easement as
hereinabove set forth, all in accordance with a map and plan on
file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Redding, to
which map and plan reference is hereby made for particulars as
to the proposed vacation, and it is hereby declared that all pro-
ceedings hereunder are taken subject to the reservation and
exception above set forth.
3. That Monday, the 19th day of August, 1957, at the
hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M., at the City Hall in the City of
Redding, is hereby set as the time and place for hearing all

persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation of
the said portion of the extension of Center Street.
4. That the Street Superintendent of the City of
Redding be, and he is hereby instructed to post or cause to be
conspicuously posted at points not more than three hundred (300)
feet in distance apart and along the line of portion of the
extension of Center Street he.'reinabove described, notices of this
intention to vacate and close said portion of the extension of
Center Street. Said notices shall set forth the passage of this
Resolution and Ordinance -of Intention and shall also set forth
the time and place of hearing as hereinabove set forth, At least
three (3) such notices as above set forth shall be posted, in the
manner, above set forth, and posting of said notices shall be com-
pleted not less than ten (10) days prior to the date of hearing.
5. That the City Clerk shall certify to.the passage
and adoption of this Ordinance of Intention and. shall cause same
to be published once in a newspaper of general circulation printed
in the City of Redding, within fifteen (15) days after the passage
of this Resolution and Ordinance of Intention.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the aforesaid Resolution was
ad ourned
introduced and read at a regular eeting of the said City Council
of the City of Redding on the 22nd day of July v 1957, and
was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
