RESOLUTION GRANTING PERMIT TO CHARLES E. BULL TO
OPERATE CERTAIN PUBLIC VEHICLES FOR HIRE IN THE CITY
OF REDDING FOR .A. TERM OF FIVE YEARS; AND, INCLUDING
THE OPINION OF THE CITY COUT%jCIL IN TNT, MATTER OF THE
APPLICATION OF SAID CHARLES E. BULL FOR SUCH PERMIT.
O P I N I O N
By his application on file with the City Clerk,
Chail:es E. Bull of Redding, California, seeks a permit
to operate automobiles for hire as defined in
Section 1100 (2) of the Municipal Code of the City of
Redding to be used for the transportation of passengers
for hire and operated wholly or primarily over the
public streets of the City of Redding, and not.'over a
defined route.
The application came on for hearing before the
City Council in the Council Chambers at the City.Hall
on the 17th day of June, 1946, at 8:00 o'clock p.m:
where testimony in support of said application was taken,
and no testimony was offered in opposition thereto, and
the application then being submitted and is now ready
for decision. The testimony of the applicant, Charles
E. Bull, shows that he is qualified for a vehicle permit
as required by Section 1108 of the Municipal Code of
the City of Redding. '
The evidence further shows that public ocnvenience
and necessity exists in the City of Redding for such a

permit; that no.vedDles of the same kind are being
operated 'for hire and no vehicle permit has. -.been, granted
for such purposes ; • •that there:. is a . demand for the use
of automobiles for hire within the City of Redding
because the populatioin has increased fifty

-since..-the year 1940 and because .of the construction of
Shasta Dam ,as well 'as the ' opening, .of summer-resorts since
the close.of' ; the -war; -that travelers stopping over at
Redding, frequently ask the applicant, .who operates' the
taxicab' business in Redding, if he has 'cars for hire..
Upon the evidence adduced at the hearing, it,:
is shown 'that the applicant, Charles E, 'Bull, is .,in, a
position 'to immediately -furnish such service.
Charles E. Bull 'is hereby placed upon notice ' '
of all the provisions of. Article XI of Chapter I of
Part IT of_ the Municipal Code of the City of 'Redding,
Sections 1100 to 1120, inclusive. thereof.'

declares•that the public convenience and,necessity requires
