SUBJECT: 9A--Consider oral report from Ad Hoc Committee regarding funding for the
Civic Auditorium.
Recommendation
Accept oral report from ad hoc committee members Mayor Pro Tempore Erin Resner, and
Council Member Tenessa Audette, regarding funding for the City of Redding Civic Auditorium
located at 700 Auditorium Drive; and provide direction to staff.
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact resulting from the formation of an ad hoc committee and subsequent
discussions.
Background/Analysis
At its December 16, 2025, City Council meeting, during discussion of Item 12, Mayor Pro
Tempore ERiResner suggested forming an ad hoc committee, and the Council reached consensus
to do so. The ad hoc committee's purpose is to engage with entities that may benefit from and
provide financial support to the Civic Auditorium while the City evaluates its ability to offer
additional funding.
At its January 6, 2026, City Council meeting, an update from the Ad Ioc Committee and
Community Services Director Travis Menne was provided to Council. The updates included
estimated annual costs to shutter the Civic Auditorium.
Environmental Review
This is not a project defined under the California Environment Quality Act, and no further action
is reguired.
