The meeting was called to order by T�iayor Buchea. On roll-call the

Dr, �. �. Gerrard addressed the City Council, represent�ng the Reddirig Soft-
Ball Club�, asking for additional lighting on the �oft-ball field, furnish-
ing a place ior tr�e younger people to play ball in the eveni.ngs, �ost to �be
apt:roximatelv �y180C, except for lights, Laurence Carr as president of the
Chamber of Commerce spoke in favor of the project. Acting City Mgr Storm
' spoke of being unable to obtain adequate ilaterial to install the• job.

Alvin Cibula, represented a group of Vets of Foreign V�Tars and tF;e �lariae Corp
. League, asking for use of Califor•nia Street from Yuba Street .to Tehama Street
for a Shasta Co Homecoming week, fror:i June lU to 15, 191+7; carnival and
Street llances to be held during the week. It was unders�ood tYiat room shall ��
be left in the streets for equipment in case o.f fire or cmergency, Council-
� . man Dunlap rnoved to grant permission for this celebration. Councilman Haskell
` sPcond�d the rnation. Councilman xnderson moved to arriend the �:�otion to th�
effect that sa.�,e set-up shall be under the supervision of the City t�anager
and Chief of the Fire-lleparti,�ent. This amendment was approved by Council-
r�an Dunlap; and motion seconded by Councilman Haskell. Voting was as �

comrner�ial area,
