IU�eeting was called to order by I�Iayor Buchea. On roll-call the following
Councilnien were present: Anderson, Haskell, Swarts and Buchea.
Absent: Councilrnan Dunlap .
This rneeting was adjourned from Regular Nleeting of February 3, 1947 by the
City Clerk as Clerk _of the City Council, and acknowledged in writing by all
members of the City Couneil:

underway, and that actual construction to start in the near future. This
group was satisfied .v�ith the price quoted of w�'3.00 per linear foot. It
was also understood that after securing the necessary grades frorri the City
Engi.neer's office, that any party can privately construct sidewalks.

Lawrence G, VVoods and Vernor, Selvester appeared in behalf of the Local Yost,
American. Legion about �heir convention to be held on ;�iay 31, arid June l, 1947.
and asked for a donation of �1000.00 to be used as advertising and promotion
The City Council held up the matter for• a few days pending legal opinion
frorn the City Atty on expenditure of' �fiunds for advertising and promotior.. '

City n�janager Neal read a letter f rom uuater Supt Dick, who explained that if
adequa.te facilit�es are not installed; the �ity of Redding might meet acute
water shortage this corning swnmer. The Council asked that the City i�ianager
and �lbert Dick ,look into the matter, and have a report for the next meeting.
PETITION: REDEDICATION OF FROST'rST TO FN.�,EB$IDGE ST:
ti petition was presented to the City Couricil signed by approximately 1�0
people living on What is ca�mmonly known as Freebridge Street, ask:ing that
same Street be rededicated fr-om Frost Street to Freebridge Street.
Coun�ilman �warts moved that the petition be turned over to the Citv
Planning Comrnission; motion seconded by Coun�i]..rnan l�nderson. Voting was

Councilman Swarts moved that Reso. No, 1476 be adopted, whereas it �has come
to the attention of' the City Council th�t charges have been made publicly
concerning conduet of the City Governrnent, arid such charges are to the effect
that certain 'citv officials of the City of Redding have been guilty� of
fraudulant conduct; the City Council welcomes and requests an investigation
by the Grand Jury of the County of Shasta into the af'fairs of the City
Government, aniZ' i� d�sirious that such investigation cover the last seve�al
years including all departments and offices. This motion was seconded by

BENTUN AIRPORT LEASE: .

protested the Benton Airprt lease presented whereby���°���s allo�red
to collect 10� of gross receipts.. General discussion took place as to .
what consti�tutes gross receipts. I-:is gross receipts include coinmercial
opesations away fro�j. the field. The matter was held for further considera-
tion. -
KUTl�S TRACT:
Wm. G. Hill, 2117 Pine Street, asked if the Kutras Tract lease had been
abandoned. The Ci�y Council stated that it has not been abandoned, �and ,
if i:t is that will not be 16efore Sept. 1947. �
SIDEiiVALK AND RECRE[�TION PRUGRAMS:
In reply� to inquiry of Carl A. Williams, 2062 Chestnut Street, the City
ivianager stated that the City Nill start it's sidewalk program as soon as
the City purchases fn�rns to build them, As to recreation facilities in `'
the North City Park, it was decided that t he City should look into .
having the"park planned before any buildings are placed. The City
Council expects to review � a plat a�ready prepared for. the park.
VAnIANCE - SOUTH STREET:
Homer Baker, local contractor asked that variance �e granted on lots '
or� South Street in the Garden Subdivision in �regard to 5 ft set froin
property lines. He was asked to take same up with the Planning Commission.
VdAT�R - ALI�iOND STREET:
R, V. McArthur, �190$ Butte Street, asked that water service be extended to
rnore lots on Almond Avenue. He was directed to mak�application with the
Wat'e� Depa.rtment.

D. B, Stutsman asked the Council t6f the City will build tt�e sidewal�s or.
advertise for construction of them. The Council had not as yet decided
upon the matter. '
