On roll-call the Sollowing Councilmen ' were present: knder•son, Brennan, Haskell, Hemsted, arrl Dunlap, State Division of Forestr,y Mr: Melvin Ponpenio, of the State Division of Forestry was present to ask the City Council tor a long term lease or permission for S�ate to buy approxine:tely five acres of land adjacent to the south City Park Ibr state ofSices, warehouses, shops, etc.. This is in line with a letter of November 19, 1945 from the Redding Chamber of Commerce desiring the City to lease said land to the state. Councilman Brennan :�ade a motion, seconded by Councilman Hemsted, that the City . Cour�cil go or. record as b=ing in favor to the lease of that or any other acceptable ��ce of land. Carmona, who desire to have Lots 1,2, and 3 of Block l+0 Original Totim rezoned from first residental to Commercial in order to erect a locker plant building. This came up after the City Planning Cor.unission had rejected said petition because of the overwtieLning protest from adjacent prooerty owners, The City Council reterred the matter back to 'the Planning Commission f'or further conr ' sideration; as it was pointed out by 11r. Shadwell that an expansion of' business is taking place and that mor,e property is needed in Commercial zoning. Calaboose Creek City Enp,ineer }i. A. B1ote in regard to rrater for city; and City Engineer Ross reported to the City Council that the A,C.I.D. had Fnalled most of the boards in their dam, and that the prospect of having enough water is not so good. The Council suggested an injunction against the A.C.I.U, to make them put th e boards back; but maintained that the Bureau of Reclamation is responsible, pdr, Hoss said that the A,C.I.D, wants the use of 4 or 5 trucks and �1,000.00 to }ielp repair the gates. Councilman Anderson made a motion seconded by Councilman Haskell that the City Attorney be authorized to take any steps legal or othereise to protect the water supply. Dick, superintendent of the Electrical System, reported that he is working on a nev+ electrical rates. . Cold Street Underpass Letter of November 15, 191,5 £rom the Southern Pacific Companv to City Engineer Ross stated that their Chief Engineer had checked plans and had approved tkie same as to design of Gold Street Underpass. Char.:ber of Commerce Councilman Brennan made a motion, seconded by Councilman Hemsted, to appropriate A1,500,00 to the Chamber of Commerce. Councilman }�askell reported to the City Council that by cutting "�1,500.00 for water at the cemetery and $6,000.00 on connections�at pump house and electrical ' work being donebby the City; the cost of improvements to the water system would be cut from �j37,5�.00 to less than 530,000.00 plus $10,400.00 for extensions; the City Engineer was asked to make an estimation of all extensions needed in the City to be used as a basis for E3ond Issue. Councilman Anderson is to work with the City Engineer. Fir�e Equipment Fire Chief Klaukens as!ced Sor instructioris for disposal or r•epair of a damaged fire truck; and estimated darnage at no less than �1,850.00.
