�Zra �ti�nel appeared before the-Council with a petition of some one hundred
signers, vrhich read as follows= "To the City �ouncil of the �ity of Redding"e
"�Ve. the undersigned residents, tax-payers, and citizens of the City of �edding
hereby petition the City Council of the City oP Redding to open up a street
�hich will be the extension of L�b��ty Street from Placer to Pine"..
This,�t�oroug�arfe would be approxunately two and one-ha1P blocks in length,
and would �ee�p children, going to the Cypress Street. School off �ine arid I���arket

l�r. �uchea made a- motion, secohded by Mr. Brennan that the I�Jiayor appoint: three

Attorney :Tohn Spann and IVIr. Leeper, Mgr of the Shasta Box Company appeared to
lay before the Council their proposit�3�an on construction of South ��arket 5tr�:et
y`later �'jain so that delay on p�rt of other consuiners mi�ht not hold up construction.
After much discussion, thei•r.�plan vras adopted by tne Council as Polloavs:

� to accept the proposed contract as it is ,�rith the modific�tion that The Shasta
Box Company put up �L�250o00 and the Redding Veneer and �ox Company put up �'750v00
in lieu of a fa�:�hful performance Bond; which �5000.00 shall be kept by the
�ity of Redding, u�itiT the sum o� �50370�5 has b�en paid back into the City
in the way of `�ater-Charges and then sai sum of �50�.00 deposited with the r
�ity to t�e depositors shall be ref�nded annually by said City be apportioned
between Shasta Box Gompany and Redding �TeneQr a�d Box Compax�y on t2�� ratio
of 1`j/20 and 3/20 respectively from collections on �Tater Service in said area
until said sum of �t�250.00 is refunded to Shasta Box Company and t he surn of
�750.00, is,-refunded to the Redding Veneer and Box Com�a�y,

adopt Nesolution No. l�l$ accepting bid of ➢: B. and G. E. Stutsnan, Union
�elding ti�orks, Stockton, California and the •Mayor is authorized to enter into
contract on behal�f of _the City of Redding, approved by the Gity Atty and attested
by the _City Clerk. I`,�otion was earried by thefollo�ving vote: '

� �'Ir. Bisnop, �zcountant for Utilities, to enable hi.m to go aYiead with his
settix� up tr� Utility Books, aeked the Council about Rentc�ls for the �lectrical
and Water Departments. It vras decided by the Council to charge the �lectrieal
Uepartment �100.00 a month fo r eQarehouse and the 1Vater Department the sum of
�50.00 �er.,;month for ren�al of �arehouse.
