upon roll call bythe City Clerk th e following councilmen were
present:-Anderson, Buchea, Dunlap, Harrison an.d Gronwoldt.
City Attorney Glenn D. Newton was als o present.
The r�inutes of the adjourned re�ular meetin� of Nov. 19, i9�.3

'i'he bid of the Reddin� Record-Searchli�ht for publication of
the City delinquent tax list at the followir�� rates;�i0 cents per

The following merchants appeared bpfore the City Council and
re�istaTed protests over rate increases in the services they
were recea.ving and tha proposed �arba�e pro�ram.

b?ost of thes� merchants felt it is not necessary to raise trie
rates as mucr. as has been �raposed; some wanted the City to take
over the �arbage business aY:d �andle t he collection and disposal,
while others tnou�ht the City should submit the �arbag� service
franchise to competitive biddin�.
The City Council agre�d to take over the collection of garbage
service fees, increase the resider�tial service f'rom 75 cents to
�p1.00 per month and also to inerease t'rse commercial collection
rates on an average of 100�. If tne revenue is more than ex-
pected tne rates are to be reduced.
No matter how much mone;� is collected by the City, Don Fiemsted
is to receive only at a maximum of �309�.00 per month.
� `I'he collections of garbage fees is over. a three montY� trial period
to determine how much money can be ccllected.
P�Ierchants who feel they are bei�, overchar�ed are to regisLer
grotests with Phil Storr�:, aupt. of �treets. In the event that
�Jir. Storm can�t work out some solution the protests are to be re-
ferred to the City Council.

them.

Street Closing
N'Lr. Harry �lover asked the City Council to investigate th e closing
of a street near the Garden subciivision. IvTr. Glover stated this
straet has been used by rnany years by, the public ana if this re-
maias closed, property owners will have no means of e nterin� t�:air
property. Investi;;ation is t o c�e made re�arding this condition

Garbage Dis posal '
Several parties spoke re�arding th e �arba�e disposal, but no action
was taken at this time.
Power l�ates-Redclin�
I�Zr. Dick, Supt. of the Electrical Depar�ment was instrud'ed to find
out if possible, tivhat rate �'lr. Charles E. Carey, Regional Director
of th e L'. S. 3ureau of Racla�ation would make the City of Redding
for Shasta i7a.� �o.ver.
Shasta �ascade ��onderland Ass�n.
By the f'ollowin; vote the Council voted t o give tne Shasta Cascade
vUonderland �ssociation �5UU.00, part of the money budgeted ior them.

�:Zr._ Geo. Pearl, City Engineer told rnembers oi the City Council
that State health officials �iave asked t��e City of Reddinr, to
prepare plans f or a se�Aidge c�isposal plant after tne tivar. �;r. Pearl
stated 'ne Yiad inspected array car~�p s�vaa;;e disposal systems at
ZiarysvillQ and Chico and believed a system could be built here at
an approxiniaie cost of 4�100,000.00 City .�n�ineer iw�r. �eo. L� Pearl
was in.structed to prepare pldns a nd s�;ecifications.
