The �ity Council in�tructed City Engineer Geo: L. Pearl' to inform
the OPA oftice �.hat the City of R�dding will not pay collect tele-
phone or telegraph` charges in �e future. .

Mr. �lells of the II., S. �eather Bureau office appeared before the
�ity Council,,stating it was the intenetion oP the Bureau to chan�e .
from heating.their office by eleetrieity to oil and asked that
the city bear the cost oP such alterationg: The matter was referred
to A9r: Phil Storm, -Supt of Streets for a report:
INSUR�;NCE-CLAF�K NYE
Mr, Clark I1ye appasred befbre the �ity Council in regard .to makin� a
new survep on inaurance for the City of Redding. �?r. .Nye stated m.any
c�an�ea have been made in city buildings and that some conatruc�ion
has taken place. This has changed the value of the City�s property.
The ci�y council euths�rized Mr. Nye to make the survey.
� E. E. DICK-SUPT OF ELECTRIC PLANT - '
B�r. E. E. Dick, Supt of Electric Plant asked p��ission to place notices
in the monthly eleetic statmenta asking the pu�,lic. to voluntarily con-
� serve electrfc eaergy. &�r. Dick also requested the use of the public
address system .for the Boy 5cou�s -, August 'jth, the city possee at
�nderson, Sep�. 5th and the Unione� at Diesitehorst, Set� 6th. All request�
were granted.

whic� prohibfts the operation of gambling clubs after midni�ht and to
arrest any club operator v�ho does not automatieally close at midnight.

who fs managing the garbage collection in the absence of Mr. Hemsted
was ordered to appear before �the low price control board re�arding
the price charged Por the eolleetion oP garbage in the City oP Redding
and-that he ha� advised Mrs. Hemsted not to d�al with OPg but to refer
thean to the City of Redding. Mr. I�Tewton also stated an official oP
the OPA would be in Redding Thursday, August 19,.. 1943•
