The �ouncil approved the follot�in� appoi,rltments by the �iayor
as �embers of �che Planning Commission to f ill vacancies c;aused
by de�th and expirations of terms of offioe : A•T• Gavin, term to
expire 1944; i�.V. Saeltzer, terni to expire 1945; VTirif'red '�right ,
term to ex�pire 1944.

State Guard Compar�Y•
H.�• 33ostick requested t�aat t'r�e �ouncil �pprove payment of�10.00
per night to the Veterans lyiemorial Buildizi� for rerital of tr�e
Auditoriun� for use oi 1�he newly orgaiiized State Guard. After
a general disesssic�n, it was decided to pospone action on tnis re-
quest until the matter could be furtger investigaLed.

Councilman �dilliams maae a m�tion that nel�� cr.airs be o�dered for the
Council �hamber, motian seco�le�eci b;� Couneilman Dunlap, and on
roll call by tne Clerk, r�otior� was unanimously approved.
�,��.G. Fitzgerald spoke briefly on the proposed zonin� ordinance,
and expressed disapproval of anyy proposed change in �the construction
zone of his residen,ce.
Councilman Haskell su�;�ested tliat an electric stove be installed in
tne City Jail h�y fl�r. �ick at a eost not to e$eeed �120.00; Gouncil-
man �lilliams su��ested that an electric va#ter i�eater be ir��talled
iii t�e Cit3T iiall in order 1;hat tne Janitor Yiave ha�t watEs• for o�.ean-
ilig �urposes. Both these recommendations met with the approval of
the 6ouncil, and T�'�r. Dick wGs direcied to proceed with these in-
stallations.
