Galifornia St�te Counci� of Defence. _ The City Clerk read a ccmmunication Prom Richard Graves, .Ezcecutive Secretary, relati�e to ereatin�; a City Coun.cil of Defence. No acti�n was taken: Bids for Legal Printing. Bids for le�al printir� �rere submitted by the Shasta Dial and the Redding �econd. Shasta DiaZ bid 50¢ �er law�ul square, first insertion, and 25¢ per lawful square for each subsequent insertion� for the exclusive printing of all legal notices capr�ble of beirlg published w��kTy. Rerading Record bid 50¢ per square for Pirst insertion and �j0�,' per square for subsequent insertions. " Council�an Haskell made a motion that all legal printing duriug the rr:at �f�scal year be ha ndled as fol�.ows:"where it was necessary to paint a legal notice only once, and it �as not necessary to h�ve the notice printed on conseaubive days, that the printing be given to the Shasta Dial, where it was necessary to insert > a notice �'or more than one day, .that the ,�rintin� be given to the �dding Rocord." This motio�a ��vas �econded by Councilman utiilliams, anc� passed by unsnimous vote. Garbage Situation. City He�lth Officer L.S. Scott appeared before the Council and informed th�t body tYiat he had..m�de an ir�vestigation of the garbage �ituation in Reddin� �s previously req�ested by the Council, aud had f'ound very few complaints. He stated that the majority �f peopie he contacted were satisfied with th� present service. Mr. Bra-nstetter also appeared before the council, and w�s requested to return at a later date when yome definite decision could be reached relative to the �arbage questio�. The City Clerk was ii�struct�d to supply iY9r. I3�anstett- er with a copy of the Reddin�� Garbage ordinance�. Rates for Air Coolers on �'lat Rate. � � �ity Engineer Adams recommended that the rate for water coolers on the flat � rate water service be reduced from '75¢ to 50¢ effective luly 1,1�4T. Council�G � man Dunlap made a motion that thiy reeuction be put in effect as per this reccomendation, motion seconded by Councilman Haskell, and approQed by unanimous vote of all councilmen present.. Annual Audit. The City C1Erk was directed to secure bids from several accountin� firms for making tYie Annual audit oP the records of the City ofRedding for the fiaca� year ending June 30,1�t�1. Protesta No protests have been r.�;:de to the Gouncil meetin� as a Board of Equalization for assassments per assessment rolls on file. Tax Notices. :CQuncilman Williams made a motion that t'he`G.City Tax Collector be instructed to mail to all taxpayers a r�otice of the second instsllment of Gity Taxes that would be delinqaent aYter April 2Uth of each year. Ttiis notice to be mail�d not later than March lst of eech year, and to show name of taxp�yer, amour�t of second irist�llment, and other pertinent data.
