June 4, 1941. 8 FTi Upon roll call by the City Clerk, the following Councilmen we °e present: Brodie Haskell, C.V. Hill, C. A. WilAams, A.H. Gro nwo ldt . Approval of Bill for Street Signs. The Clerk read a letter from Engineer Adams, dated June 4th,1941 in which MT. Adams stated that materials for signs from E.E. Erickson Company had been delivered, and were satisfactory, and that payment of this -contract was now inx order. Upon a motion by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Hill, payment of this bill was approved by unanimous vote, mayor and clerk si gel ed check in payment. Application of Shell Oil Company. Shell Uil Company requested permission to remove curbs and install driveways on the east side of Market street on lots 44,45 and 46 of the Homns Addition of the City of Redding. Upon a motion instituted by Councilman Haskell, seconded by Councilman hill, this request was unanimously approved. Labor Claims. Labor claims for last half of lay,were audited by the Finance Committee and approved. Lease Beacon Site I'Zo . 20SF S .Airy^aay. The Civil Aeronautics 'administration request renewal of a lease of lots 2 & 3 of Block 2, Shasta View addition to the City of Redding for the period July 1,1941 to June 35,1942, at an annual Rental of 11000. Upon a motion by Councilman Hili, seconded by Coacilman Haskell, this leaseas extended by unanimous vote, C.A.A.C and 4 copies returned to the Santa Lonica, California. United Service Organization. The City Clerk informed the Council that LT. J,V. Stanton has declined the chaimanship for the local branch of the UJ0 due to press of other business. Mayor Gronwoldt received the permission of the Council to secure a chairman to take the place rejected by Mr. Stanton. Appointment of Ivan Dunlap as Councilman. Upon a motion instituted by Councilman Williams, seconded b; Councilman mill, and passed by unanimous vote, Ivan Dunlap was appointed Councilman of the City of Redding to serve until the next regular election.
