Clearing of Reservoir Site
Re so luti on No. 1181
, A resoluti on req�est in� the Bureau o f Reclammat ic�n; of the
United �tates ��nd other officials of the United St�te� to
clear the area to be submerged tivith the waters impounded by
ahasta Dam of all del�ris ti�as introdueed. Upon a motior�
instituted by C�unc�.Tman Frazier , and secon:ded b.y Cou.nciimar�
Williams , this resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of all
co.t�ncilmen present . .
Proposed ��'ater Extension
Ted Benton a�peared before the City Council , requesting the
City `e:ater Department to�extend the city water to the Benton
Subdivision north of the Sacramento River. He �,sked that
tne council grant .an application for permission to hang a
i pipe on the Sacramento River Bridge . Thi� �aatter •�vas t�,ken
under advisement to be referred t� the ti�later Committee , a
; decision to be reached at the next meeting of the council.
� Sewer Complaint
I R. 12cGuire appeared before the City Counci l, reque sting th�:t
action be taken to elir�inate sewage overflow on his propert� .
This matter dvas referred to the Street and Sewage Committee
' for their investigat ion , �,nd ��r. P�cGu�il�e was asked to return
at the .meeting on Janu�.ry 20, 1941.
Nlode 1 Race Car Es�ablish�ment
, Robert Valentin�e requested permission to establish a race
track on, the east side of the Reddir�g �ir Port property for
the pur po se of hav ing a mode 1 rac ing car tr�.ck.. This a�,pl ic a-
tion v�as �referred to the �viation� Cammittee for investigation.
Purchase Order Ordinance
An ordinance governing the method of making purchases for
the various departments of the City of Redding was introduced ,
�
providing for a uniform system of requisitioning to be used.
� Ordinance for Parking Control
� An ordinance regulating the parking on various strPets in the
busir�ess district uvas introduced , elimin�.ting angle p�rking on
certain streets.
� Stop_��.,nd-Go Si�na.l Orainance
An ordinance providing for the installation of a stop-and-go
si�nal at Ii�arket a.nd Yuba Streets and penalties for the
� violation of this ordinance tivas introduced.

Monthly Bills
Upon a motion bf Councilr�an Frazier , seconded by Cc�uncilman
�lilliams and passed by unanimous vote of all councilmen present ,
all rnonthly claims yvere ordered paid. � '
Transfer of Funds
Upon a motion by Councilman Frazier and seconded by Councilman
Y�'illiams , and passed by unanimous vote of all counci lmen
present , the following transfers were authorized:
From the ele�trical fund to the gener�.l fund , �v6 ,000 .00 ;
From the SpeCl��,� recreatic�n and pl�,ygraund
fund to the general func�, 200 .00 .
This second transfer tiv�.s to repay a loan m�de to the recreation
fund on Au�ust 5 , 1940 .
Resolution No . 1182
Upon a motion by Councilman Frazier , seconded by Councilman
�::�illiam�s and passed by unanimou� vote of all councilmen present ,
a resolution was adopted approving the �'ourth Suppleroental
Memorandum of Agreernen�t for �xpend.iture of 1/4 Cent Gas Tax for
State Highvudys .
Ordinance No. 269
An ordinan:ce amending Section 2� , Article II, of the �,�unicipal
Code of the City of Redding , relating to �tne meetin�s of the
City Council providing for � reg,ular �neetings on the first and
thira Monclay of each month , in the City Hall in the Cit �r of
Redding , commencing at eight o 'clock , ;p.m. , �received its second
reading . Upon � motion lay Councilman Frazier , seconded by
Councilm�a,n �'�illiams �nd pa.ssed by the unanimous vote of �.11
councilmen present , this ordinance was adopted. A copy of tYie

Carnival
A letter d��ted Janu�.ry 2, 194�. from the Foley & Burk Combined
Snows vvas read by the City Clerk. Thia letter contained an"
ap�lication for permission, to exhibit their shov�s in: the City
of Redding on the approximate dates the week of April 22nd to
tYie 27th , 1941 , inclusively. The City Clerk was directed to
write Foley �C Burk to the effect tnat the dates April 2�nd to
the 27th , 1941 , �rould be reserved for t�iem exclusively, a,nd that
no other carriival �roi;zld be granted permission to exhibit in the
City o f Reddin.g prior to or during th.at time , prou ided Foley P�
Burk would fortivard to the City Clerk �100 .OQ , �r�hich money is
to 'oe applied a�ainst license fees to be ch�r�ed them during
their exhibit in: the City of Reddino .

check for �50 .00. Upon a motion inst:ituted by Councilrn�n Frazier .

by unan imous vote .

Installation and Handling of
Liquifi_e_d Petroleum Gases �w_
The Srie 11 Oil Company , of 1006 4t�: Street , Sacramento , submit ted
an application for a permit for the storage and tiandling of
liquified petroleum gases at th.e ir distribut ion pTant located
at 2268 South `��daldon Street in the City of Reddirzg.. T't�i� a,pplica-
tion �vas accompan.ied by a letter from H . T . Klavkens , Fire Chief,
statinb that he had inspe cted the plant of the Shell �il Com�ny
and recommended that this permit be granted. Upon a motion by
Couneilman ,Frazier and seconded _by Cou�ncilman i�illiams , this
permit v�as �.p�roved by unanimous vote.�

The City Clerk requested that the council advise him as to

Boardman Sevaer Distriet an property ovmed by the City cf Redding
should be �aid before January 25, 1941, or if tnese assessments
should be permitted to run for the allotted 15 years . The City
Clerk w�.s instructed to brin.g this ma,tter up a.t the next meeting
for further discus�ion.

Resolution No. 1183
� resolution approving execution of deed to the State of Califorr�ia
nn that real proioerty in the City of Redding, County of Sriasta,
State of C�.lifornia on the south line of Cypress Avenue , cont�ining
ahout 3.309 acres , vvherein tnis property for consiaeration vJas
deeded to the State o f Californ ia. Upon a mot ion by Councilman
Frazier , seconded by Councilman '��illiams and passed by undnimous
vote of all councilmen present , this resolution �vas adopted and
the �[ay�ar and the City Clerk were instructed to execute said deed
in tYie na.me and under the sea� of the City of Redding, and to
deliver the same to the St�.te of California , s�abject to the
reservations and conditions therein contained. The said It�I�yor and
City Clerk were further instructed to execute a CPrtiiic:�te of
���:ccept�.nce , as required by Sectiozi 1158 of' the Givil Gode of the
St:�.te of Californi�. This deed ti�as executed in triplicate and
given to Mr. Leland Rose of the St�.te Hightvay Depa.rtment on January
8 , 1941 .
