The adjourned, regular meeting was called to order by Mayor Swarts and upon roll call the following Councilmen were. present: Anderson, Anthony, Buchea, Morrison and Swarts. City Attorney Carlton was also present. OATH OF OFFICE � - ,f�t this time the I�Zayor Orvil Swarts gave the oath of office to City C1erk Bernard E. Gilmore, after which City Clerk Gilmore gave the oath of office to UJilbur D. Simons, Orvil Swarts and Carl A. Williams, newly elected eouncilmen. Before retiring from office Niayor Swarts praised both retiring Conncilmen Andersori and Buchea for the splendid work they had done . while on the. boardo �The. new councilmen at this time took their seats. NZAYOR ELECT At this time =Councilman Morrison made a motion, seconded by (:ouncilman Simons, that � Couricilman William Anthony be elected Nlayor of the City of Redding. - � � � � Councilmain Arithony �at this time declir�ed the post, saying he was highly honored, but- as the City of Redding is fastly growing it would take about two hours of work each day to do a good job.. This he could not give in his present occupation.
