call the foll�wing councilrier� were present;

City Attorney Carlton was also present.

. Vice-Mayor Anthony at tr,is tir�;e stated all councilnlen had received
a copy of the m�inutes of the r�eetixig of September 6, 191�� and if
there were izo objections the �inutes of this meeting would riot be

that a y�25 ,00 license fee for solicitors be reduced to a prorated

�Jir, H.I�r�t.K. Wittner, dctin� as spokesman for the TJorthern California
Electrical Contractors Associ�ion, appeared before the City Council
requesting t�iat al1 service installations regard.ing electrical
ranges and electrical water heaters be turned over �to contractors
here in the Redding area. I�fter d.iscussing this matter� at some
lerigth tne rnatter was r�ferred to the Electrical Committee, Super-
intendent E. E, Dick, City I�Zanager Storm and the �uiJ_ding Inspector
for furtner investigation, T�ir. '�Tittner also stated contractors
would approve the City raising the contractors4 license fee from
�20000 to �200000 or �p250,00 per_ year, City Attorney Carltor� at _.
this time sta�ed a licerise fee vaas f�r revenue only and could not ,_ � �
be used for a trade barrier. �
_ HEAVY TR.UCKS - COURT STREET
P�iro M, G. Fitzgerald appeared again before the City Council wanting
to know what had been done about heavy trucks on Court Street ,
City t�ttorney Carlton sta�ed that a, check of City. ordinances did nat �
reveal any laws regulating truck traffic and Actir.g Pfiayor Anthony
informed ��ir. Fitzgerald that everythirig possible was �eing don� to
solve this probler�. .
JUNION CHAMBER OF COiull��RCE
l��r, Harr.y Lewin, Junior CYiamber of Commerce President, appeared bef�ore
the City Counci�l regardin�: �layground equipment wh:ieh they were ready
to install near Fire House �-;2 on Placer Street . After discussing
this matter �Nith the City Council they informed nim the City would
help install this equiprnent whenever the Junior Cha�riber wishes.

. City Ordinance �37�3 re�;ulating one way traffic ir. the several parts
of the Clty of Redding was read by Ci�;y Attorney Carltori for the second
time. A motion was then made by, Counciln�ar� Buchea, s�conded by Coun-
cilman P�Iorrisor�, that the resolution be adop�,ed as read. - Gn roll call
voting was as follows;

DOG LICENSE
City Attorney Carlton at this time informed the Council that he
would submit a proposed dog license ordinance at the
October 3rd meeting. City Attorney Carlton also stated that new
laws, wnieh go into effect October lst, 19t�9, would allow the City
to reintroduce this measure whicn had been defeated by a referendum
vote several years ago.

The City Council at this time heard City Attorney Carlton read
the following resolution

RESOLUTION t�UTHORIZING FXECUTION OF ,QUITCLAIM DEED
`�3HEREAS HERB A. ALLLN, H. FRED EASTLUND and RUTH EASTLUND,
husband and wife, heretofore granted to- the City of� Redding � .
a righ.t of way for se�er purposes on and over that certairi real '
property situate in the Ci.ty. of Redding, County of Shasta, State
of California, and particularly described as follows, to wit;
The North 1$9 feet of the it�est 10 feet of the East
65 feet of Block 23 of the Olivia Additiori to the
City of Redding, as the sarne is recorded on the
rriap thereof . in tlze office of the County Reco "rder
_ of the County of Shasta, State of California.-
ALSO:
The V��est 235 feet of the East 300 feet of the South 10
feet of the North 1$� feet of said Block 23 of the
Ol'ivia Addition to Redding,
AND WHEREI�S the parties have agreed upon an exchange of
� deeds wherein and whereby the City of R.edding will release a11
of its interest in the hereinabove described real property to
the fo°1lowing parties, to wit: HERB A. .�LLElV', H. FRED ExSTLUND
and RUTH EASTLUND, husband a�d wife;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY CO'JPJCIL
OF THE CITY OF REDDING, AS FOLLOWS, TO IrJIT; _
le That all of the foregoing recitals are true and correct;
2. That Orvil Swarts, as Mayor of the City of Redding, is
hereby authorized and directed to make, execute, acknowledge and
deliver to HE�b ,A. ALLEN, .H. FRED EASTLUND and RUTH EASTLUND,
husband and wife, a quitclaim deed of all tne ri�;ht, title and
interest of the City of Redding in and to the hereinabove des-
cribed real property and rignt of wayo
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was intro-
duced and read at a regular meeting of said City Council of the
City of Reddin� on the 19th day of September, 1g49; and was
duly adopted by the following vote at said meeting.

A motion. was then made by Councilman Buchea, seconded by Councilman .�3:��

SEt�V-YOURSELF GASOLINE SIATIONS •
City P�Zanager Storm at this time stazed a petition had been left in
his office requesting the City Council to pass an ordinance outlaw-
ing Serv-Yourself Gas Stations in �edding. City Man.ager Storm
stated this petition had been "sigried by many service .station opera-
tors and that the Fire D�partment .was in favor of this proposal.
City Attorney Carlton was instructed to prepare an ordinance outlaw-
ing this particular type of service station.
DR. V. J. COLLINS - F. W. HAYBt�LL, BUILDING INSPECTOR
City I��anager Storm at this time read a letter from Health Officer
Dr. V. J. Collins and Building Inspector Hayball recomm�nding
Orangeburg and Transite Sewer Pipe. After a short discussion by tne
City Council, City Attorney Carlton was instructed to prepare th�
necessary papers to amend the Sewer Ordinance which would allow the
use of Orangeburg and Transite Sewer Pipe .
SHRINERtS DAY SEPT. 21�, 1g49
City NTanager Storm stated he had received a letter from N1r. Clarence
Piper, General Chairrnan of the Shriner�s Day, thanking the City of
Ftedding for the use of the hard bali park, also a section of the
grand stand= would be set aside for city officials and their wives.
No further business th'e rneeting adjourned.
