Councilman Ifiorrison was absent.
The minutes of the meetin,-s from. June 21, 1948 to July 15, 1945 inclusive
were approved as read, with the necessary corrections as recq,aested by the
Council members.

A motion duly made, seconded and passed at the adjourn.ed refrula.r m.eetin;
on Daly 10, 1945 was a. duplicate of the same motion passed on June 21,
1948 and upon order by I:§ayor Anderson, the order of transferring X2103:75
from the General Fund to the 1947 Improvement Donds and. Interest Sinkin;
Fund and the sure. of `�42C from the Electrical Department fund to the

of Reddi= and stated there were sufficient, loading zones in the business
district at the present time. 1t has been the policy of those desirinn
loading zones in. the past to first rr.�al<-e application. to the Police Department
and if found necessary, the application would be referred to the City Council
for their approval or disapproval. Anyone desiring a loadin":zone should
use this same procedure. Chief of Police Shoup's-41etter to th.e Cit:., T',iana?_;er
was to the same effect.
AUDIT CLERK'S OFFICE
Mayor Anderson. reported the audit made of the City Clerk's office found.
everythinE in order. 1.,ir. Storm eras instructed to see that City Clerk was
bonded.
WATEP SUPPLY DISCUSSED
City L anamer was authorized to proceed. 'and obtain inf orrnation. on obtaining
water more cheaply for the City of Redding, also obtain the service of a
V'ta.ter Engineer. A motion to this effect was made by Councilman r3ucixea,
seconded. by Councilman_ Swarts. Upon. roll call votir-S v;a.s as follows:

City I'1ana er Storm brou�,ht the matter of advertising for the Airport Light-
inc System at ti,e Redding Airport before the Council and was instructed to
proceed 4•rith the necessary- adver•t:i.si.n,;, subject to the approval. of the City
Attorney. A motion to this effect was made by Councilmar, l_nthonv, and
seconded by Councilman iuchea. Upon roll call voting was as -follows:

City I','Ia.nager Storm stated that a colored individual desired to erect a
shoe siine stand across from the Lorenz li.otel and near the Shell Service
Station on..the corner of Yuba sr_cl Califorr-da. Streets. After some discussion
the Council found no objection as long as he conforr_ied to City Building
re `ula.tions . Tiie matter ti•ra.s referred back to City I'ianal er Storm for his
decision.

Mayor Anderson brought before the Council the matter of employing an
expert shorthand writer or some other mechanical means to record everything
which took place at Council _,'eeti.ncrs in the future and after a sort dis-

A motion was then made by Councilman Buchea, seconded by Councilman Swarts
that the several salary increases become effective as of July 1, 1948 and on
roll call voting was as follows:

CITY CLERK -ASSESSOR PRO; `I'EP.
City i`,anager Storm brought the matter of Edna D. LaCoss before the City
Council stating that 1�,jrs. LeCoss had done considerable extra work during,
the week the Council was sitting as a Board. of Equalization of 'faxes and
Budet 11:eeting and asked permission_ to compensate i,rs. LaCoss for these
extra hours of work. The matter was referred back to City 11,iana.= er Storm
for his decision_.
11STALLATION DMD—ING STRIP CYPI;ESS STREET
City Ianaver Storm reported again on the City's request from the Division
of High,xays permission to install a lighting system on Cypress Street,
which vril.l be the new highway 44 in the future. City I'-ana-;er Storm stated
the reply to his let'�,er to the Division of hi,-hv,ays stated they were not
very favorable toward the installation in the dividing strips only under
special conditions. Their letter in no xray made any comments on these
conditions. The Council then ordered a resolution prepared to be sent to
the Division of hi inays ag"ain requesting permiss-ion to erect instellations
in the dividing strip. A motion to this effect i�ias made by Councilman
Duchea and seconded. by Councilman Swarts, and on roll call votiri .ias
as follows:
