SIGIVS, - Loyal Order of Moose • Mr';;����Robert Lidell, Secretary to the Loyal Order of Moose brought. to the attention of the council a traffic safety sign, printed with luminous paint that shines in the dark '�Protect our Children" that would promote safety in .driying, and asked council consi;,deration that the Loyal Order of Moos.e be granted permission to erect and maintain said signs within the city limits. At the present time the Moose Lodge have six signs and more are obtainable, The suggested location for these signs were: Placer, IVIagnolia, Cypr�ss, Eureka Way, Pine and. 5equoia Streets, Mayor Williams referred this subject to the Police Committee. RE GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICE The following residents of Redding voiced their protests on the proposed changes in the garbage collection system as had been recommended for council consideration at a previous meeting; Mr, John Cherta suggested an increase in rates would be preferred to a curtailment of the present service rendered, and informed the council a meeting of the Garden- Olivia Home Owners Asstn, was to be held and a group opinion would be subrnitted at a later date. Mr. and Mrs, W. Sublett, Elmer Junkans, Mrs, Nienburg, speaking as an apartment house owner; and �arl 5tedrnan protested the placing of cans by the owners at the � cu'rb. Councilman Bill Anthony protested the placing of garbage cans on the curb, but' did approve'of the segregation of garbage from the swill, Mr. Jos. 5mith, Chairman of the Garbage Comrnittee, reported that the garbage department had not been breaking even over a period of years and the cost of main- tenance of the Sanitation Department had been partly made up of general city funds, He further stated these reeommendations were submitted mereiy as a suggestion to decrease costs of the department, but the comznitteets recommendation`would be guided by public opinion. � Mayor Williams referred this matter to the Garbage Committee for their further study and recornmendationso A written protest from J; A. Maupin, 1Vlanager, was presented for council consideration, The letter detailed the affiliations. and memberships in credit associations throughout the United States, Alaska, Canada and Hawaii, and consideration of their req.uest for the collection business from the Gity of Redding Utilities Department was asked.
