Clyde Rann, speaking� from-the floor, pres�ented a proposed contract agree- ment between Carl R, McConnell and Leah McConnell and- the Citg of.Redding ? on lot Northeast corner Yuba and East Streets, and requested this be approved �i as soon as possible to alleviate the parking problem. October 3, 1952 Honorable Members of the City Council Gentlemen: The law of the State of Calif, provides that upon request of the Council, by Resolution filed with the .Gounty Glerk, the County shall'perform certain health service,s within the city. These aervices include the enforcement of state ' health and sanitation laws which should be enforced:within the city. The cost of this service in borne by the C�ounty. ONE-W.AY STREET - Railroad Avenue Gouncilman Srnith, ; chairman of :the Street Committee, requested the subject of the establishment of Railroad Avenue as a one way�street be held over for future -council action. � RE PARKING. SCHOOL BUS - Verda Street The problem of the parking of a. school bus at 1944 Verda Street was brought befor.e the council, with.r.esidents of the area claiming the hazard still exists and asking � cooperation of the council for a settlement of this controversial issue. City Manager Stites stated .he .felt this, problem called for legal opinion as he felt the , parkirig of the.bus was in violation of the zoning ordinance on use of the land, and if the Gity Attorney said there was a violation, the ordinanee would be enforced immed- iately, . . Trask, D"istrict Engineer dated Sept. 2bth, 1952 requested council consideration of the abandonment of Field .Street and;a portion of Prince .Street. A portion of the letter is .as follows: ''The S.tate of C;alifornia now owns all lands on both sides of the streets covered by this proposed abandonment. These are use.d almost exclusively by 5tate v.ehicles or by vehicles of persons visiting the State office,s. It se.ems, therefore, ,that the City should be relieved of the burden of main- tenance. ----the State will undertake to maintaih the .streets in such condition as to afford passag,e for City service vehicles and crews. " Mayor Williams authorized the City Engineer and the Planning C.ommission to bring in their recornrnendation on this pr.oposed abandonment of streets.
