BALLPARK - 1952 SEASON
Mr. Nick Fisher repr:esenting the 1VIoose Lodge asked for council consideration of
the Moose request for the use�of the ball park and the conce�ssion stand for Wednesday
and Sunday nights. An immediate decisian was requested, if possible, due to the
advamced baseball season.
Mayor'Williams inforrn:ed Mr. Fisher that Mr. Nelson's letter re the ball park had
just b.een received and within one week there would be a definite report.
GAR.DEN-0.LIVIA IMPROVEMENT PR.OJECT
Mr. D. S. Kennedy of 1854 Gontinental Street protes.ted the manner in whieh work was
being dorie in the Garden-Qlivia street irnprovernent project, and the length of tirne
taken for completed improverrients within a given area in the district.

At a meeting of the,Board of Trustees of the Redding Mosquito Abatement
District .on April 23, 1952, a motion was m:ade and passed that we ask the
City of Redding to renew the lease on the property now used b_y the Redding
Mosquito Abatement District, under the terms of Paragraph 5'of the original
agr.eement entered into with.the City of Redding on July 1, 1947, to wit:
, Paragraph 5: "That the Lessee shall have the option of renewing this lease
on the terrnination thereof for a.further�period�of five years and upon the
same terms and conditions as hereinabove set forth, provided, however, that

it shall notify the Lessor of such intention in writing, on or before sixty days prior to the
termination of this lease. "

Commission, effective immediately.

5URVEY - CITY DEFAR;TMEIVTS
Mr. Miner B. Phillips, accountant, surveying the city's business procedure, informed
the council thru a letter dated April 24th he would be in Redding Monday, May 12th
until Thursday, May 15th, during which time he hoped "to make considerable pro-
gress towards completing the survey. " He further requested exemption certificates
for train travel.
APPLICATION REQUEST - PLANNIN�G COMMISSION
A letter frorn Harry Hazeltine, Realtor of 1436 Yuba Street, dated May 1st, was �
presented requesting consideration of his application for appointment to the Planning.
Commission on the vacancy created by the resignation•of Alvin Cibula.
This application was taken under advisement by the council, as several applications
for this post had been received.
PE:TITI(JN - RAILROAD AVE, WEST ON LINDEN ST. _
A petition signed by 38 property owners and tenants of Railroad Avenue and West
on Linden Street area, and circulated by the NAACP of Redding-, was presented to the
couricil for their consideration. :
The Request: "There are certain measures that must as soon as possible
be done in this area that the community might be a safer place for re-
sidency. A constant stream which eminates west of the area flows
constantly through this area of the city and washes large rocks to this
section. Street lights should be installed to lessen problems of delinquency
and to make a safer street. Proper-sewerage should be installed. The�e
are only a few improvements that we deem should be immediately done in
this area. "
Rev. Monroe C. Taylor, spokesman for the group, was informed by Mayor Williains
that bond issues are the only answer to the problem of adequate sewerage, stre:et
lighting and street improvements for any given area. _
Mayor Williams referred this subject to the Chairman of the Street Gommittee for a
report at the next council meeting. - �
