The City Council. of the City of. Redding does ordain a:s follows,
to wit:
5ection 1. Section 516 of Article II, Chapter �'I, Part IV of the
Municipal C.ode of the City of Redding is hereby amended to read� as
follows: '
tiSection 516�-Rat�s, Standard for � �
` .,In fixing and establishing water rates for service within the
corporate limits of the Cit.p of R.edding, the Water Superintendent
and the,:City Council shall` be guided� by and must .conform to� and �
abide by the following standard and rule, to wit: Water rates shall
be sufficient to discharge and pay all the costs of. operativn. and
maintenance of the Water Department and the tatater system,_ and to,- di�s-
charge and �pay all costs in connection v�rith the addition5 and be`ttea�-
ments to said' water system, and to discharge anci �pay all costs �of
depreciation ancl obsolescence of said water system, and to dischaxge
and pay the bonded indebtedness, includiiig -the principal and interest
amounts thereof, incurred by the City of Reddin� to coristruct said
water system, .and to sstablish. and .maintain a reserve -fund not to
exceed the sum of $�100,000.00; water rates shall not be charged in :
excess of the amount necessary to raise the hereinabove mentioned .
costs and expenses and r��serve, .and said water system shall not be
operated as a profit-making enterprise."

Company protested the proposed- increase and recommended the consideration
of an increase. not to exceed 25� of_ the present rates. Nlayor�Simons
proposed action be delayed �.until fua^ther consideration�

referred to City Nlanager Storm, NSre Dick and the Finance Committes

ing. �chool.-course�held in Oa�land, Calif. under the.-auspices, of the

�RE�OLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
APPROVING MEMOR�NDUM.OF AGREEP�IENT FOft- EXPE�iD ITURE OF GAS -TAX
. ALI.00ATION: FOR -MAJOR CITY STREETS
WHEREAS, the State of California, through its Department
vf Public Works, Division of Highways, has presented a -memorandum
of agreement in. accordance with a project statement submitted by
the City of Redding for expenditur� �of the gas tax allocation to
cities for the fiscal year 1950�51, and
it�iEREAS, the City Council has heard read said agreement
in full and is familiar with the contents thereof, and desires
to approve the same;
'1'HEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City
of ftedding that said agreement for expenditure of the gas tax
allocation to cities be and the same is hereby approved and the
Mayor and City Clerk are directed to sign the same on behalf of
said; City. .
