mentioned have been heretofore dedicated to the City of t�edding, County

As said streets, avenues and alley appear on and are delineated on
the rr;aps of saio Boardman addition and Clarirriont Addition on file in the
office of the County Recorder of the County of Shasta, State of Califa
��-IEREAS, said portzons of Juno, IVlaple and Angle S�;reets, Boardman
and T�Zarion Avenues and that certain alley hereinabove mentioned have
never been opened for the public use and the same are now in an unim-
proved state9 and
WHEREAS, said portions of said streets, ave�zues and that certain
alley are not necessary or convenient for the public use and its �'����-
tion as the public property of the City of Redding will only result in
its continuing to be witndrawn from the tax ro11s of said City of Redding
and will cause the said City of Reddin� the necessity of maintaining
said portions of said Juno, I�`ia,ple and Angle Streats, Boardman and Marion
Avenues and that certain a11ey in a proper condition; and

up of said portions of Juno, Niaple and Angle Streets, Boardman and
1Jiarion Avenues and that certain alley and the closing up thereof is
to the public advantage and ;benefit and is in furtherance of the

WHEREAS tne �lanning Gommission of the City of Redding has
approved the closing and abandoning of the portions of said streets,
avenues and that certain alley hereinabove described and
WH��EAS no persons and no owners of real property will be
damaged by the closing up and abandoning of the portions of the
:,streets,; �avenues and that certain alley hereinabove described and
all persons and own�rs of property who could be served by and who
- could utilize any portions of said streets, avenues and that certain
alley hereinabove referred to have consented, acquiesced and re-
quested that such abandonment and closing up proceedings be conducted
and conpleted.
NOW, THEREFORE,. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City

hereinabove deseribed at least three (3) notices of the passage of
this resolution. Said notice shall be headed 1fNOTICE OF INIPROVEi�ENT9t
in letters not less than orie inch in length, shall be in legible
characters, state the fact of passage of this resolution, its date,
and briefly the work or ira�rovement propased, and sha11 refer to this
resolution for further particulars, and said Philip Storm, Street
Superintendent, shall also cause ten (10} successive insertions of a
notice in similar substance to be published in the Redding Record-
Searchlight, a ;�aily newspaper published and circulated in ihe City

foot right of way in the Benton Tract to the City of Redding.

I��ayor Simons reported on tYie progress of sale of property to Trisdale
and Winan Bros. The Dog Pound and I'�Iosquito Abatement builclings were
to be moved across the highway and it was proposed the sale of the
property now occupied by them to the above raentioned parties at ;the
same rate per acre , .

to have the City Manager and City Attorney enter into negotiations
for the sale of the balance of the land at the same rate to Trisdale and

Councilman Antnony stated he had read the specifications for a b
cylinder 1,000 gallon pumper which he recomrnended .the city purchase
for the Fire Department.

ing to specif ications.

ayor Simons presented a letter from City Engineer Hill stating that
24% of tne total drainage into the Garden-Olivia Subdivision was from
the area east of Pine Str•eet, the totaZ cost of the complate draina�e
program was estimated at �'79,G00 .00 . Councilman Swarts suggested
thE City accept responsibility for 1/3 of the total costs provided the
entire project is approved.
Clinton Stark representing the Garden-Qlivia lmprovement Club said
petitions would be circulated and it was hoped �he 60�o vote of accept-
ance of the program would be obtained. "

A telegram from Price Director DiSalle was read by Nlayor Simons; it
asked cooperation of the Council for the organization of a volunteer
committee to encourage general public knowledge and observance of
regulations.

r�4ayor Simons saia a telegrar� to President, Congress and Senators
was being urged to be sent by the council, asking for sei�tlement
of the railroad strike. 1�'iayor Simoris, Councilmen Swarts and I�lorrison
were not iri favor of the council taking any part in labor disputes.

was in need of repairs but it was the property owners' responsibility

BASEBALL DIAT�TOND �
Iv�r. Roy- Vincent spoke on the ineffectiveness of school facilities
for baseball practice as iields are auailable only after school hours
and r'equested the city again to consider the baseball diamond at
Benton Park. T�.e leveling of' approxima�:ely 2500 yards of dirt plus
the use of toilet facilities at the swii7uning pool were the only
requests for participation asked of the city. :
