W E AS, in compliance with Government Code section �522.56 the Redding City
Council must provide Ca1I'ERS th�s certi�cation resolution when hiring a retiree befoie 180 days
has passed since his �r her retirement date; and
WHE A�, Suzanne Lovitt retired from the City of Redding in the pc�sition of Legal
Assistant;effective August 15, 2025; and
V�HE AS, section '1522.56 requires that post-retiremetit employment coi�nmence no
earlier than 180 days after the �:etirement date, which is February 12, �;�26, withaut this
certification resalution; and
dVHE AS, sectian 7522.56 provides that this exception to the 180-day wait period shall
not apply if the retiree accepts any retirement-related incentive, and
W�E �S, tlle Redding City Cauilcil; the City of Reddinb and Suzanne Lovitt certify
that Suzanne Lo�itt has not and will nc�t receive a Golden Handshake �r any other retirement-
related incentive; and
W E AS, the Redding City Couneil herebY appoints S�zann� Lovitt as a�� extra help
retired annuitant to assist with special projects such as the training of replacement staff on the
preparatit�n c�f the Council agendas, ordinances, and resolutions under Government Cade section
21224, effective August 20y 2425, and
WHE A�, the entire employment agreement, contract ar appointment document
between Suzanne Lavitt and the City of Redd�ng has been reviewed by this body and is attached
herein; and
W�IE �S, no matters, issues, terms ar eonditians i:elated to this employment and
appointrnen�have been or will be placed an a consent calendar; and
V6�HE AS, the employment shall be limited to 9b0 hours per fiscal year; and
W E AS, the compensation paid tc� retirees cannot be less than the minimum nor
exceed the maximum monthly base salary paid ta other employees perfarming comparable duties,
divided by 173.333 ta equal the hourly rate; and
WHE AS, the maximum monthly base salary f�r this position is $6952.40 and the
hourly ec�ui�ralent is $40.11; and the minirnum monthly base salary for this position is $5447.87
and the hourly equivalenr is $31.43; and
��-I� AS, the hourly rate paid to Suzanne Lovitt will be $40.1 l; and
WHE AS, Suzanne Lovitt has nat aild will not receive any other benefit, ince�ztive,
compeilsation in lieu af benefit or other form of compensatian in addition to this hourly pay rate;
and
THE Ft� , BE IT RES�LVED TI�AT the Redding City �ouncil hereby certifies
the natur� of the appointment of Suzanne Lovitt as described herein and detailed in the attached
employrnent agreeme�lt/cc�ntractfappe�intment dacument and that this appointment is necessary to
provide critically needed assistance with special prc�jects such as the training of'replacement staff
on the preparation af the Council agendas, ardinances, and resc�lutions.
