MINUTES - PREVIOUS MEETING
MOTION: Made by Couricilman 5imans, sec�nded by C�ouncilman H�lyfield that the
minutes of tlze previaus meeting of November 21st be approved as mailed t�o each
of the c�uncilmen. Motion carried. ' �
�� REQUEST FOR REMOVAL O..F TREES
��� The First Western Bank, Mr. Hendy, Manager, reqizested council approval of thei.r
request to remove twa trees fln west s ide of East Street, directly behind their new
bank Yuba near Pine Street, to facilitate parking.
�MOT.ION: Made by Councilman Anthony, sec�onded by Cauncilman Smith that the re-
�quest af the First Western Bank for approval to remave two trees on west side of '
East street, behind their bank building �n Yuba Street be accepted, all expense to
be borne by the Bank. Motion carried. �
!�� REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO SELL CHRISTMAS TREES - Redding FFA
� The Redding Chapter of the Future Farmers of American requested council permission
to sell Ch�istmas trees in front of Fennys, stating that permission had been received
fr�om the manager of Pennys` and further approval had been given by the Manager of
Woolworths t� use the s�uth side of the W�olwarth building on Placer St,
In view of the c�ongesti�on .at this locati�n, it was;acceptable to the Council that the
City Manager be given authority ta work with the F]E'A members in securing a more
suitable site for this sale,

�� aa Request for increased personnel in the Building Inspector's office
b. That sub=standard material:s for City repairs and improvements be
rejected by various city departments in view that above standard mater.ial
must be used by sub-contractor, contractors and subdividers in their work
for subdivisians, contracts and �other constructian work in the City.
Mr.. Willard Trammell, Vice-President of the Assaciation, called attentifln
t�o the quality rock used on the Akard Street improvement.
Mayor Fleharty requested the City Manager to investigate these two letters
and submit a report to the council. It was stated that Mr. McKinnon, Mr.
McIntire and the City Manager wauld meet with the association, if they so
desired, to discuss these items on a "question and answer" basis.
_ ���� Re Installation 600 gallon Fuel Oil Tank under Sidewalk
A request, under date of December 2nd, was submitted by the Continental
Service Company to obtain permissian to install a 600 gallon .fuel oil tank
under the sidewalk �n Sacramento Street , northwest corner of the Bank
�f America building now under construction corner of Sacramento and Market
Streets. C�ouncil were advised a Hold Harmless Agreement would be filed
with the city if permissi�n_were granted,

MOTION: Made by Councilman .Simans, seconded by C�uncilman Anthony
that the request �of the C�ontinental Service Company to install a 600
gallon fuel oil tank under the sidewalk on 5acramento Street at the
northwest corner of the Bank of America building now under canstruction,
be approved, subject to complying.with all City �rdinances and the filing
of a Hold Harmless Agreement. The Vote: Unanimaus Ayes.
AGREEMENT - Division of Highways j��
MOTION: Made by Councilman Halyfield, seconded by Councilman Simons
that Utilities Agreement No. 2-170� covering the rearrangement �f electric
power line facilities between the west city limits and the Southern Pacific
overpass' on�Eureka Way be accepted, and the Mayor be autharized to sign
�aid agreement�on behalf of the Cityo The V�ote: Unanimous Ayes.
Claim for Damages - The Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Coe
A claim for damages in the amount �f $450. 00 was submitted by the Chief
Special Agent for the Pacific Teleph�one and Telegraph Company f�r ;damage
done to aerial cable Oct�ober 25th, 1955. This damage �ccurred, it.was
stated, while electrical department empl�oyees were felling a tree .located
on the nflrth side of Butte Street, east of Pine.
This matter w'as referred ta the City Manager for rep�flrt after cflmplete in-
ve stigation.

pr�oving traffic control in the vicinity of the Post .Office. '.

the City Attorney be authorized to draw up the necessary .Resolution to have stop
signs erected on the Northeast corner of Yuba and California Street and the. South-
